Wasn't the GHEA convention wonderful!
It was great wasn't it! I knew they were smart, I knew they were cute, but who knew how truly charming they are together. They really are a great team Carrie and Julie. You can see God has His hand in every aspect of HOD. It was so great to meet them in person and some of my fellow HODies too! If you are near a convention definitely go meet them and get all your crazy questions answered like I did. Carrie and Julie are so generous with their time and patient with even the most involved questions. If you are anywhere near a convention it is so worth going!
I have to say that my searching time at the convention was looking for high school additions for my oldest. It really was a stark contrast from HOD. I found myself doing more eliminating than finding. Now that I know there is a perfect fit and what it is like with HOD I have a hard time finding extras that satisfy me. I went to the convention planning on using the next two guides after RTR for 9th and 10th grade and thinking we would do geography with RTR because in my mind the guide would be released too late in my oldest daughter's high school years. I came home and made the decision that since we do Geography with the guides in HOD that we can do our high school geography in 11th and do the HOD program. I see it as a chance to add all the world view stuff I want and I can't imagine missing anything that HOD writes. I realized that nobody would come arrest me if we bucked tradition.
We are so lucky. Nobody comes close to HOD not in content or customer service. You really know that well when you go booth to booth at a convention and then stop at the "happy HOD" booth. I now have one mystery year for high school but I am praying God will anoint Carrie to fill that.

I agree that meeting them is wonderful. I met them in Cincinnati and it was the highlight of the convention for me. Carrie was so wonderful to help me figure things out.
I also spent my time at convention figuring out high school curriculum. My dd has decided to come home for 10th grade and it has been very hard to find things I like. HOD does have me spoiled and nothing looks as good. I sure wish I could plug her into a HOD guide, but since she needs US History it just won't work.

Glad you had a great time, w2w! I agree meeting Carrie & Julie in person is a real treat! I'd love to just spend all day with them...but I suppose I should share so that others can learn about HOD, huh?

Had a WONDERFUL time!
What a blessing water2wine was to bring the food and treats to our precious Carrie and Julie!!
How special it was to me to share with them for a few minutes. We are all so very blessed to have one another.
What contentment I have when looking at the different vendors..nothing compares!
I am looking for some "fun" stuff, like mind games/puzzles and crafts the kids can do on their own time......
I thought that the ediquitte (Sp?) course looked fabulous at the convention, maybe for a co-op?
Blessings!

I too had an awesome time! Of course, it's always great spending time with my experienced hs'ing sister, we6areblessed! Carrie and Julie are so warm, welcoming, and WILLING to help out with whatever questions you have. Julie helped me map out a plan for my 3 children for the coming years which should work beautifully! I am so, so, SO excited to get started! Just praying for diligence and the energy to be able to teach (and do it all) as the Lord has called me.
Also enjoyed meeting water2wine! What a consistent source of encouagement you have been to others on board as well!
Thank you Carrie and Julie for being such a blessing!

I'm so glad for you! I enjoyed meeting Carrie and Julie in Cinci, too. Now that I have 3 years of homeschooling under my belt, I can really see how wonderful HOD is! We are so blessed to have found HOD! We are in our last 2 weeks of Beyond, and then will start Bigger in the fall. I keep looking it over and am excited for the next level with my kiddos! And we'll continue LHTH for my little guy. I'm glad I don't have any high schoolers yet... gives Carrie time to work out that part, if the Lord leads her that way!

Ladies,
The highlight of our convention was meeting each of you! We feel so blessed to share with those of you on this board, and doubly blessed when we get to meet you in person! You fill our cup and make what we do so worthwhile.
Thank you for this thread, as it encourages both Julie and I more than you'll know during this busy convention season. We are so grateful to each of you who give of your time to answer questions, guide, encourage, and uplift one another through this board. What a blessing you are to many!
Blessings,
Carrie
