Praise and prayer request

Post by psreit » Wed Mar 09, 2011 10:10 am

Some of you will remember my post about our caring for a baby through our local prison ministry. I've been visiting with the child's mother and sharing Scripture with her for a few months. Yesterday she prayed to receive Christ! :D :D She now has a burden, especially for her mother, who she will be living with when she is released. So, that is a matter of prayer.

Also, this mother has an almost 3 year old son who will be coming to the area to stay with a family. The problem is, we don't have an appropriate family yet, and he will be coming on Friday! We may possibly end up keeping him until we find the right family. DH is not comfortable taking him full time, as this would be for over a year. I have, however, dreamed what it would be like to have him for a year and do LHTH with him. It would be a wonderful program for him, as he has not had any Bible teaching whatsoever. His mother said that she would like him to learn about God as much as possible. She said the only 'god' he knows is using it as a swear word. She desires so much for him to be in Sunday School. So, please pray for the right family. I don't think dh would change his mind. He feels we are at our limit. The reason this is crucial is because if he stays in the situation he is in now, his mother could lose him. She would be devastated if that happened. Please pray for the mind of Christ in this situation. :?:

Praying for this family and that God will provide the perfect family for the little boy. And praising God for his mother receiving Christ. How wonderful! :D

What a heart you have for this family!!

I will add it to my prayer request notebook! I will pray that the right family will come for this little boy, and that God will change hearts if that family is to be you guys!

Praise the Lord for her having received Christ! It is the beginning of the future generations of that family being changed! Deuteronomy 7:9 says, "Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments."

I will be praying....

Isn't our God amazing?!? I am rejoicing with you over this mother's decision and will be praying with you both for her family. I will also be praying for a family to be found for her little boy or for your husband to change his mind and allow him to stay with you. We would be more than willing to take a child in this situation if it was ever needed, but we are several states away from you in TN so that won't help!

Thanks for all the prayers and words of encouragement. I came home from church tonight discouraged because the avenues I looked into for this little boy fell through. I am waiting to hear from a mom from our homeschool group. This evening, for a closing song after church we sang:

Got any rivers you think are uncrossable?
Got any mountains you can't tunnel through?
God specializes in things thought impossible
He does the things others cannot do.

I was reminded that God can still work this out, even when, to me, things seem like they aren't working out. :)
Samuel'sMommy - I wish I could bring him to you. I don't know if dh will change his mind. Even if he did, making a commitment that big is a little scary for me. Part of me would love it, but part of me feels overwhelmed by the idea. God will definitely need to make things clear. I just know he can't stay where he is.

Praying for you, too, Pam! How amazing that this mother now has eternal life! :D What an answer to prayer! I know that's been a burden on your heart since you've had this little one in your home. I'm so thankful that you continued to shine His light & share His Word faithfully. I'll be praying for this little boy, too.

Re: Praise and prayer request UPDATE

Thank you to all who prayed for a home for this little boy. Some things happened that caused great concern, but, in the end, God placed him with a wonderful Christian family from our homeschool group.... the night before he was supposed to come! If you knew all the details, you would understand why we believe God's hand was in all this. i can't tell you the details, but I will say, please continue to pray for this situation. There is a legal matter that needs to be resolved. The results are very crucial to the well being of this little boy. The Lord is in control. :)
