Ordering one more program!

I was trying to combine my 5 year old w/ my 7 year old into "Little Hearts". The problem is that my sweet little Jacob is just not ready for formal learning yet. (how much easier it is to know that at this stage of my homeschooling, compared to when my #2 son was this way and I panicked

)

Little Hearts is PERFECT for my 7 year old and Bigger is PERFECT for my 11 year old!

I was just going to have him work on his phonics and counting and then I looked at the lesson plans for Little "Hands" and saw that this would fit him PERFECTLY! So now I will get another box day!

I tell my husband..., don't buy me diamonds or flowers, if you want to melt my heart buy me curriculum or school supplies!

You know, Mary, I'm secretly a bit glad you get to do LHTH. It is just a lot of fun and learning kind of just happens as if you're playing with little honey. Your ds will love just being with you. That alone time with mom becomes more and more tough for me to do, and I only have 3 children, so I'm always humbled and impressed by moms doing it with more. I'm so glad you're enjoying the other programs. Me too!

I got a chuckle about the diamonds and flowers. I'm the same. Don't buy me that stuff, just give me a little money for school stuff.

Mary, how are you scheduling 3 kids in 3 different programs?

Wow Mary! I'm surprised. You have always said I only do one program. I can't do 2 big programs and now you are going to do 3 and you are still in the learning curve. Its great that you realized your littlest isn't ready yet and are willing to wait a bit. Please let us know how your managing with multiple programs.

Mary,

I am sure he will love it and you too! Just be ready for him to randomly, unannounced, start singing the "fingerplays" at any time!

I really like Little Hands because it is super quick (but sooooo effective!) and if he wants more (or you do) you can easily do two pages in one day.

Enjoy your next box day , I am sure we will see the pics!

Hi Donna,

It takes about 30 mins a day! I was spending that long on him alone even combining him with Seth into little "Hearts".

LOL, you girls don't forget anything

Ok, so I am taking back my famous saying! Here's why...,

Until HOD I had never found a program laid out so perfectly. I love how HOD let's me eat my meal, one bite at a time.

I feel like what sets this program apart from all the others is the time spent putting it together. It is not just a schedule of books. There has been thought put behind every assignment. Each project has purpose. We are not doing art projects to simply do art projects. It ties into our history or bible, it teaches us art basics and it's simple. I love how when there is a long lesson in math HOD takes that lesson and breaks it up and yet when they are doing something simple they speed it up.
You can tell that Carrie used this with her oldest first, BEFORE releasing it to us. There is absolute purpose in every step.

I had another friend over today. She came just to go through my HOD stuff. I loved watching her eyes light up and here's why:

Biblical Worldview
Living books w/ just the right amount of traditional
Layout is very pleasing to the eye, helps break your day up
GREAT Art idea's
Music is WONDERFUL
Ice breakers for assignments help with understanding
Key Idea's, nutshell points to help students retain purpose

I could go on and on!

In ten years of homeschooling I have never found a program I loved more. HOD is the real deal, it's everything and most importantly it's simple small bites that at the end of a year my children are going to walk away MORE informed and educated then the years we've tried doing those BEEFY all day type programs.

I happen to also be one of our counties homeschool support group leader and I know were supposed to be UNbiased. But, MAN, that's going to be hard. I want everyone to do HOD!

Mary that is great! My mil looked over the program and she thinks it looks great! We haven't started yet

We have 3 more units of MFW K left. He is doing a unit a day and retaining his memory words. It must be a God thing I could never do it. I have scheduled out the MFW 1 Bible reader to go with LHFHG and it fits beautifully. There are only 3 stories that don't line up.

That's cool. I might get the reader just for a go-along when my youngest starts Little Hearts.

I'm using it as an additional resource. My plan is for my ds to read it aloud and I will help with whatever words he doesn't know. It just fit so perfectly.

I couldn't agree more. It's not schlupped together with snippets of tons of books on the same subject. There IS a purpose here and it's all tied together. Projects are done for understanding, not just for the heck of it. I love it! Unfortunately we have a short day today, so we couldn't get to it. But tomorrow, we'll be off and running again.

Thanks so much! I have felt equally encouraged by you many times over. I'm so glad you are happy with your switch to HOD, and if I had a small part in that, I'm thrilled!

I feel it is a true blessing to have you on this board. You are a very positive, kind person, with advice that comes from a warm heart as well as a great mind. So glad you are here!
