Re: Portfolio Requirements

You don't have to have which date you used what. My evalutator said to just make up a list of all the resources I used and include it. I also printed out a sheet (I think from Donna young's site) were there are 180 blocks and I just filled in the days we did school. As for what else I included, I ju...

Re: Suggestions for educational objectives

I'm in PA too! I'll share my objectives from last year with you if you like but mine are based on Bigger. I got my advice from a dear lady at church who has been homeschooling for like 20 years (actually her baby just graduated last month but she was still more than willing to help) I hear you on ge...

Forget the spinning

So today we are doing the finger spinning in Bigger's Unit 23 science experiment. My son would much rather just dye the cotton and be able to pee into the dye. Leave it to a boy to pick up on that and want to try it.

Re: How much time do you spend planning/preparing lessons?

I use to try to look things over like the weekend before just to know what items we might need but lately I haven't been and we still get things done.

Re: What books are needed for the first 12 weeks for

Okay, I'll try to help with this. This is for Beyond, I can't help with Preparing. American Pioneers and Patriots God's Wonderful Works Morning Bells (I can say personally I did without this for awhile) Stories of the Pilgrims Boys and Girls of Colonial Days Math book If you are using the books for ...

Re: Rod and Staff Grammar--Oral or Written?

My son is not big on writing so our deal is that on days he has dictation we just do that orally but on days he doesn't he has to do the writing. It's a really good balance for use.

John Audobon-Bigger Hearts

Okay, we are on week 12 in Bigger and have been reading about John Audobon. Can I just say as a boy he was not the best behaving and had a wonderful step-mother to cover up for him? I'm just amazed at it and quite quite the laugh about it this morning.

Looking ahead to next year

I hope this is the right place, if not please move it. Anyways, I'm working on deciding what we will use this fall. The obvious choice would be Preparing Hearts as we will be finishing up Bigger hearts. I've looked at the first week that you can pull up and I've looked at the helpful tips on orderin...

Well I'm not sure what week we will be on but we are taking off 2 days at Thanksgiving and then some time around Christmas and New Year's but I have to watch my days. I need to have a certain about and I have a goal of being done like early May so we can enjoy the spring weather.

Bigger Poetry question

I was just wondering of those of you doing Bigger this year (or in the past) how many of you have had your child still write it out like in Beyond. I"m having mine write it out just to help with handwriting and to instill the poems a little more.
