Just Had to Share this HOD Blessing!

Post by tnahid » Fri Jun 17, 2011 12:42 am

Doing Beyond this year with my 7 year old has really increased his interest in reading/reciting poetry. He is constantly trying to make up poems and say them to me. But tonight, he came to me and said, "Mom, I wrote a poem." He handed it to me and this is how it went (I am going to keep his original spelling as he wrote it :) )

Marching All Day

Thier marching all day,
Battles to save,
Lots of poeple have died,
Lots of tears have fallen,
The army is callen --(like callin' I think is what he meant :o )
There on a lead,
There's victory!
Everyone's happy again.

Author - Micah Nahid

:D :D :D :D :D Isn't that neat? I just loved it! Thank you, Carrie and HOD, for helping to instill a love of poetry in my son! How precious!

Way to go, Micah! :D And way to go, mom! :D Through your diligence in teaching the poetry in HOD, and through your encouragement, your ds has written his own poetry - isn't that something?!? :D I too am really pleased with how much my all boy sons have grown to love poetry through the years, thanks to HOD. They just learn so much from it, and I can tell that by reading so much well-written poetry, they are able to recognize writing that is worthy to read, and also to begin to be able to add that kind of style to their own writing. Thanks for sharing about your ds, and I hope he keeps writing poetry! :D

Tina,

I love it when my boys learn a new passion or interest from their "schooling". :D My boys have become avid poetry lovers too! Who knew it was possible!:D

Thanks so much for sharing! :D

Blessings,
Carrie
