Preserving Innocence......

Post by striving2Bprov31 » Thu Jun 16, 2011 8:34 pm

Dear Ladies,

It has been quite some time since I last posted. We have moved and I didn't have internet connection until yesterday. I've also been SO busy unpacking and organizing......and homeschooling still!!! Only HOD could've made homeschooling after a move possible for me!! :)

I wanted to post a praise report....praising the Lord and thanking HOD.....

Next door to us their is little boy very close to Reece's age. We have already developed a great relationship with he and his mother in the short month that we have lived here. She is a single mom, very nice young lady. She and I hit it off immediatly, and so did her son and our dc. They go to church, even profess Christ. Still, there is a lot of the world as a part of their home. They take the Lord's name in vain, she uses foul language occasionally when the kids aren't around, and she really just needs someone to minister to her. She seems just a little lost still. I have offered for her son to stay with us everyday until his school starts in August, as she works and cannot afford day care the rest of the summer. What an awesome ministry opportunity!!!! :) When I was unpacking I prayed for God to help us win every house around us over to Jesus. (By the way, we have a gay couple behind us--we are just gonna show Jesus to them and get them sooner or later, hee hee)

Anyway, this little boy has been overwhelmed by media, lack of reading, lack of outside time, lack of opportunities to be creative, etc. He is basically a little boy who is not happy unless he is in front of a screen. He has been raised in a manner that produces "non-thinkers". He watches games and movies with violence. He also does not think he needs to listen right away, but is very sweet. Watching him at our house has made me feel so sad for him.

Here is the praise report (finally :) )-----While I am sad for him, it has made me sooo thankful that we are homeschooling and using HOD. What we are producing in our children is literally the opposite of what I see in this dear little boy's life. For example, my kids from 11 all the way down to 2 years old had a ball making stuff with oven bake clay for 2 hours, after having read all morning. Many times we go several days without TV and such. It just made me so thankful that God has given us the courage to go down this road....and produce "thinkers", lovers of God and his ways.....I could go on!! And HOD....it makes it all possible for me! I'm afraid I may have stopped homeschooling if it wasn't for HOD!! Homeschooling and HOD is helping us preserve our children's innocence....so that they are content with the simple yet important things in life...like oven-bake clay, reading, telling people about Jesus, and spending the day playing outside. :)

I hope this reflects my heart tonight. We have a mission field all around us. And right now there is a little boy that needs what God has given our family....so I hope we can keep him this summer. :)

Praying God blesses this ministry opportunity! I agree with you that I am sooo incredibly thankful that God has made it possible for us to homeschool our children and has provided, through HOD, such a God-honoring curriculum with which to do it. It's such an incredible gift to feel like the curriculum we use is pairing with us to raise children who will love, honor, and glorify God. :)

Recognizing that misssion field is so important for all of us. What a blessing for you to be able to pour into this little one's life. :D And how wise of you to see the blessings in your own life. It's easy to forget sometimes what a true blessing things are sometimes- like hs'ing, HOD, and enjoying the little moments with our kids.

You are so right! Homeschooling with HOD has been such a blessing! We could be using ANY curriculum to just 'get the work done'. But, with HOD, dd is gaining so much more. And witnessing, well, she has such a boldness that certainly has been an inspiration to me. We are caring for a baby through the prison ministry. One Saturday, the baby's grandmother was visiting. I was preparing for dinner guests the next day, so I needed to keep working. DD8 entertained the grandmother while she spent time with the baby. Later, dd told me she had said something to the grandmother about asking Jesus in her heart. The grandmother claimed that she already had done that, even though she didn't tell me the same thing when I was sharing some things with her. Only God knows, but we have so much work to do to bring others to salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ. I'm so thankful that HOD reinforces those things that are most important in the lives of our children. Thanks HOD! :D :D

These are all things I'm hoping HOD will bring to our home.

Praying the Lord works through you mightily in the lives of those around you!

An update!!!!!.......

We get to keep this boy for 6 weeks!!!!! :) Hooray!! We are all so excited. His mother and I talked again at length last night. This is just a blessing from above!! God has truly brought us together to be neighbors. She went on and on at the blessing that it will be for her son to stay with us everyday.

It feels SO good to help meet someone else's need!!

That's wonderful to hear, Liz! I have prayed for this to be a time of learning about the Lord and drawing nearer to Him for this boy and his mom. May the Lord use you as a vehicle to do this, and may He bless your serving Him! :D
