Back home to HOD :)

Post by mamas4bugs » Tue May 03, 2011 10:39 am

We're baaaaaaaack. :P It's been over a year since I posted. We have used HOD guides LHTH, LHFHG, Beyond, Preparing, and CTC. This past year, dh wanted the boys to study American history together, so we did a sort of Bigger/SL combo thing of my own design with both the boys. And while we had a great year, I'm exhausted from the constant planning.

I had been planning on coming back to HOD for the younger two, but wasn't sure what to do with our oldest son. He will be in 8th grade next year, but since we just covered American, the new guide wasn't really an option I wanted to pursue. Plus, after next year, he'd be in high school, and then I had no idea what to do with him. Then a friend posted up on another board that HOD was doing high school, and I just had to come look. As I was looking at the HOD website, my oldest son walked up behind me and said, "Mama, I LOVE those books! (He saw the main page with all the guides on it.) Can we PLEEEEEEEAAAASSE use them again?"

Well, goodness, how do you say no to such excitement over such wonderful, God-honoring curriculum? :) So, after some prayer, discussions with dh and the kids, and an email to Carrie, I *think I have a plan that will carry him all the way through high school and cover all the time periods, using the extensions and some other things to beef up the guides that aren't intended for high school.

So, for this year, we have dd 4 in LHTH, ds 9 in Preparing, and ds 12 in RTR with extensions.

We're all very excited! As soon as we get moved in (we just relocated), we get to have a box day! :)

Doesn't it feel sooo good to have a plan? I also used to throw together my own thing and I couldn't go back to all that planning! Welcome back.

That is so neat that your son saw the picture of the books, remembered them, and really wanted to use them again. What a great testament to HOD! Welcome back! It sounds like you have a great year ahead of you. We'll be doing Preparing along with you and your ds9. :D

Praise the Lord! I'm excited for you too, and it sounds like you have a great plan for all of your kiddos and also for heading into the high school level years too. We pray that you will have a wonderful year, and we look forward to traveling the HOD path with you too! :D

Blessings,
Carrie
