Bigger Hearts Extension Questions

Ladies,

I'm purchasing some of the extension titles for my DS8 to read alongside his Bigger studies. He's a strong reader and loves to read. Are there any titles I should avoid for a younger reader? He'll be 8.5/9 throughout his Bigger year. I won't purchase the science book b/c he doesn't need the extra science and it's definitely a more challenging text. I think it is used later on in another guide anyway .

Another question is regarding A Child's Story of America. Is there any inappropriate material for a younger reader? I read a review on Amazon that said there was some explicit comments made about Bill Clinton and his lifestyle choices. Not sure if that review is accurate or not . Sometimes I wonder if reviews are skewed just to turn potential readers away from a good book. I like the looks of the book and had intended to purchase it but would love to know in advance if I should avoid it for now since my guy is younger than the intended audience.

I purchased all the extension books that were within my DD's reading level...I didn't get anything above a 5.9 to avoid burnout...wanted to keep it as pleasure reading and fun.

As for the Bill Clinton content...it's in there, but those pages are not assigned. There rest of the book is wonderful Anything questionable like that, Carrie skips or gives you a warning so you can decide for yourself.
