Can I ask for more OT advice?
Satan is really attacking my family. I know it is an attack and I know that it is spiritual and I know that I should "walk by faith and not by sight", etc., etc. But with everything that is going on (ds9's issues, my own issues, other children needing attention, etc...you know all that goes in to raising a large family) I just feel like I cannot handle ONE.MORE.THING. This latest attack involves my 12yo son. I don't really want to plaster it all over the board b/c the issue is very sensitive. I will say it involves the viewing of inappropriate material on the internet.
If anyone here has teen sons, has HAD teen sons or has dealth with this sort of issue, please message me. I am in desperate need of prayer and advice. I don't want to push this child any further away than I already feel his is. But, I cannot allow this to continue. Dh is speaking with him tonight. But as the mother...I just don't know what to do. My woman's/mother's heart is sick and broken at what this child has seen/chosen to see/deliberately sought out. KWIM? I'm just not sure how much more I can handle. Please, if you can advise me, PM me. I appreciate it.

I don't have any advice since we haven't reached the teen years yet, but please know that I am praying for you....praying that the Lord gives you wisdom in how to deal with this situation. We have some friends who are dealing with this, although their situation is a little different. It is difficult indeed, but God is slowly healing them. Praying, praying, praying.....

Praying for you Sue. Remember He walks with you. And it is good He revealed to you what you needed to know. Pray for Him to show you solutions. I have chosen to have the computers locked by password and not to allow my children to be alone when on it. That may be something to consider. Praying others will email you with more wisdom. I am so sorry you are going through this. I will be praying for your family.
All your children shall be taught by the LORD, and great shall be the peace of your children. Isaiah 54:13

BTDT when our son was 12. Here's what we did. We prayed!! We spoke with our son about our broken hearts, what God's plan is, etc. Then we prayed some more!!
We also installed Blue Coat K-9 Protection (it's free), put a password on our computer, log off of email when we're not right here, computer stays in plain sight, etc.
He's 17 now, has done some purity studies, we keep communication open, and still pray, pray, pray.
(((hugs!))) and prayers for you! I know it's hard, but you and your family can get through it. I promise. The Lord is there for every tear.

There's a great book called Every Young Man's Battle. Great Christian view on the matter.

We also use K-9. The internet is just too much temptation!

This is an excellent book! However, I would caution using it with a 12 y/o. It's pretty mature; might give more info than he needs to know (probably depends on the child). Sex Is Not the Problem (Lust Is): Sexual Purity in a Lust-Saturated World by Josh Harris is also excellent- liked it even better than EYMB. But, again, very mature theme. I would read them first before deciding if it's something you want your son to read. My now 17 y/o has read them both, and gleened a lot from them, but 12 is pretty young.Mom2Monkeys wrote:There's a great book called Every Young Man's Battle. Great Christian view on the matter.

Hey Sue,
First of all - remember that even when you are doing the best you can - your children ultimately make their own choices. So, don't beat yourself up. BUT I totally agree with pp's - password protect those computers, put the one the kiddos use in a public spot. The internet can be SO destructive for families. And it is truly problematic for some not all children and adults. I find that these types of experiences, propel our family toward better/higher standards. I also would severely limit all 12 yo's opportunities /activities for an extended period of time.
