Question about the dictation that is in Write with the Best
Question about the dictation that is in Write with the Best
I was looking through Write with the Best that we will be using with CTC. I noticed that on Day 5 of each unit is says to have the student take dictation from the passage or from another book. For those that have done Write with the Best how long of a passage do you have the student take dictation from? I am assuming you do this the same way you do studied dictation that is in the rest of the curriculum. I can see my ds really struggling with this since the passages are pretty difficult. Just wondering how others have done it.

Re: Question about the dictation that is in Write with the Best
We did not do the dictation in Write With the Best. We skipped that and just did the dictation assigned in CTC guide. HTH!

Re: Question about the dictation that is in Write with the Best
I let my ds pick the length. The first one he picked was very short, but he did begin to challenge himself on his own (sometimes) and picked longer ones as we went. I figured we had this covered well in the HOD guide already, so whatever he wanted to pick, I let him (even if it was a 5 word sentence).

I think I will just let him pick what he wants even if it is a very short sentence. I like the dictation passages in CTC much better since I can make sure they are at the right level and that way he is challenged, but not frustrated.
