Box Day!!!

Post by Kathleen » Wed Jun 23, 2010 5:12 pm

:D Our wonderful goodies for this coming school year have arrived!! :D (Actually they arrived about a week-and-a-half ago and have been sufficiently oohed and ahhed over by all, but I've been low on computer time and didn't post yet... )

CTC looks amazing! :D Grant was very eager to peek at the books when they arrived. Here he is with our school year to come...
Image

He is very excited about Birds of the Air! Bigger sparked the bird-lover in him and for the last 2 summers he has been the local expert on the location of ALL bird nests in the area. :D He has an egg collection (just like his dad did at that age)...and the excitement is rubbing off on his younger siblings, too. Here's a picture he took for his photography project in 4-H - a robin's nest at Grandma's house. :D
Image

He's also very excited to read Boy of the Pyramids, God King, The Accidental Voyage, and Plant Life in the Field and Garden. :D And if I'd let him keep going, I'm sure all the books would have made it onto the list... His eyes got a little big at the sight of next year's English book. And he thinks that Carrie's plan to spend 2 years working on it is brilliant!! :D

I ordered most of the rest of the books I'll need for Beyond for Allison. We'll spend most of the year finishing LHFHG, but will be using Beyond for the Emerging Readers (which we've already started), math, and spelling. She was excited to get a peek at her books for the future, too! :D

Excitedly looking forward to August and diving into HOD again!!

Kathleen,

How very neat to hear how excited your kiddos are about their new school goodies.
Everything looks amazing all spread out like that!
The picture of the nest and eggs is beautiful, your son is very talented in photography, thank you for sharing it!

Kathleen I am so glad you got your books. Can't wait to do CTC together with you this year. I loved reading your posts last year as we worked through Preparing at the same time. Noah also was excited with the books. He loved the look of the Science books and when I told him I knew he was going to get to make an animal track book he was thrilled.

I love your pictures, Kathleen! Can your dc really have grown up that much?!? I remember Allison looking like a little tot not all that long ago, but she has gotten taller! Grant has too. Oh my, where does the time fly? You are going to have such a good year ahead of you with all of those awesome books. Doing CTC and Beyond together last year was a nice mix. You'll find your teaching time in CTC to be nicely stream-lined, which gives you some time to focus on Allison, Garrett, and that other little sweetie-pie on the way! :D Praying for you daily BTW - it was wonderful to see you at the book fair! Tell your sis' "hi" too! :D

Kathleen,

I'm late to celebrate with you but just had to pop-in anyway and rejoice that you have your books in hand! :D I love the pictures of your sweet kiddos and their BOX DAY! I cannot believe how much they've grown since the last pics you posted of them. :D Enjoy your summer and your upcoming little one! :D

Thanks for sharing! Your kiddos smiling faces blessed my heart today, as I was one weary writer. :D

Blessings,
Carrie

Happy Box Day Kathleen! CTCers unite! :D I am looking forward to doing CTC with you all. I have been looking over the week in review posts to get an idea of what we'll be doing and I really enjoyed your posts on Preparing, Kathleen and Lynn! :) Wish I had been more diligent with my posts. I'll try to do better this year. Welcome to HOD Heather! :)

Lynn, Heather, & gotpeace - I'll look forward to seeing your fun in CTC, too! We did have a fabulous year with Preparing...and I expect CTC to continue to bless us as we homeschool. (I'm SOOO glad that I don't have to "mourn" finishing a great school year - because there's just more & more good things to follow as my kids learn & grow! Praise the Lord! :D )

Our Illustrated Family Bible just arrived today. Now it's ALL here! I'm getting excited to start (although I'm hoping for a little time to "breathe" between now & August!). :D I don't have my normal endurance for our normal summer jobs that need done, I'm noticing. Imagine that! If you could see me now (and the baby growing entirely on the front side of my belly), you wouldn't have any clue why I'm saying that... I've had time to look over CTC, and I think we're ready to dive in when August gets here! Once again, I'm so thankful for the open-and-go HOD guides!! They're a life-saver here! So, write, Carrie, write. :D If you'd like I could post a BIG picture of my pregnant self smiling at you! Would that be inspiring?? It should at least produce sympathy on your part. I've been getting the "You have HOW long left to go?...Oh, I'm SO sorry!" comments for quite some time now (even though I really feel good as long as I don't have to push too hard).

Thanks for sharing in our excitement, ladies!!

Oh, Kathleen! I WOULD be inspired by a super-pregnant you, smiling, and telling me to write-write-write! As you can tell I'm holed up even today and catching up! :D I am thinking of you as you are getting closer to your new little blessing arriving! :D

3sweeties, I'm thinking of you too, as summer can be tough on pregnant mommas. :D Yet, summer is a terrific time to have a new little one, as they can be out and about with you without you having to worry so much about the new babe getting sick!

Blessings,
Carrie
