My 4 year old is very interested in learning how to read and has begun to sound out CVC words. I don't plan to begin LHFHG until September of 2011 when she's 5.5. If I go through The Reading Lesson with her now, what should I do about phonics when we get to LHFHG? Assuming she'll be reading by that point, would I just work on spelling like in Beyond?
Thanks for any input!

One of my ds's finished his phonics in the middle of LHFHG. We just got the Beyond manual and started the Emerging Reader's Set a little early. Instead of just doing 1 of the Bibles (there is a Bible choice for the start of the Emerging Reader's Set), we did both of them. This made the Emerging Readers' Set last a few months longer. We especially loved the comprehension questions written for the set in the Beyond manual. They did a lot to prepare my ds for DITHOR. So after finishing the Emerging Reader's Set, we just slowly began DITHOR 2/3, even though at that point we were in the Beyond manual. It's worked wonderfully well! How exciting your little one is getting into learning to read already!
