Wow, how exciting! A mom getaway sounds wonderful. I'm only using Bigger and parts of Preparing next year, but it was SO fun getting that box of books in the mail!

Excited for you! We've just about finished our first year with HOD and really liked it!

I just (finally) placed my very first HOD order!! I am ordering TONS of stuff (for 6 kids), so I'm having to break it up in 2 or 3 orders. I was planning to save up over the next couple of weeks and make one big order, but I couldn't wait . So I went ahead and ordered all the teacher guides that we will be using--Preparing, Beyond, Little Hands, and Little Hearts (Little hearts we will only be doing the math activities and handwriting for this year)--and DITHOR.

My wonderful husband has offered to "send me away" for the weekend ( Friday, Friday night, and Saturday) after the books arrive so that I can peruse them at my leisure! I usually have a "mommy only" getaway about once a year. ( I really never leave the town, but I do get to spend the night in a nice hotel ). By the end of the weekend, I should be familiar with the guides. Then when I order the rest of the books, we will be all set to start!

How exciting!!! I can't wait for you to get your hands on all of those wonderful guides. I have all of those same guides in my cupboard, and having used them, I can confidently say you have so many wonderful days of homeschooling ahead of you! I just opened my homeschooling cabinet the other day, and saw all of my HOD guides there. It just made me smile, thinking of how much the dc and I have learned over the years using those guides. We have made some pretty special memories too. We have the summer off, but near the end of August, I will be very excited to get my CTC guide and pour over that, adding it to my little HOD collection.

I hope you have a wonderful time at your getaway! Your dh had a fantastic idea there, and I do believe that is something that could catch on like wild fire for homeschool moms if they can get their dh's to see how beneficial that would be. Carrie and I have a getaway weekend as well, where we research a ton of materials and dream of what we want in the guides to come. It is truly a time of hard - yet exciting - work for what comes next. It is an incredible blessing to be able to do this. May God bless your time away for planning, as well as your year with HOD!
