I am still here too!

Post by Rebecca » Fri Dec 12, 2008 9:26 pm

Just popping in for a second... to say I am still here too and we still love HOD!

I typed one reply to InHisTiming a week or so ago- the computer ate it- and I never had time to redo it!

It is a hectic time for me as we have been "going strong" in my husband's tax season for about two months now. (Tax work for a Tax Software company)..
It is so busy (i.e. he is working six days a week! Yes- it is not unexpected- but I still DO NOT DEAL WITH IT WELL AT ALL!!) and I have NOT been handling it well.

Our school has been sporadic with holidays, sickness, etc...
but we are still here to stay... I am not sure if I am going to try for full school next week- or just jump in again after Christmas settles...

Anyway-
Carrie- I love all your ideas and I really feel such a rest and peace with HOD. Your research is SO very appreciated. I trust you and all you do so very much. I hope you are blessed and encouraged this holiday season in a very special way and have time just to enjoy your family and the season (maybe with some cocoa and cookies and music too!) I love the freedom I have with HOD- safety in using the plans- and freedom to do what I feel led/need to as well.

I am "lurking..."
Blessings,
Rebecca

Life will not settle down until end of February for us... so if I don't post- you will "see" me then!!!

Rebecca,

So neat to hear from you, I know it can be difficult at times to catch up with the HOD crowd! We love hearing from you though! Just happy to hear your "hello" and know that you are coming along fine.

My husband has been so busy as well with work, just trying to keep things afloat and provide for our family and all the dedicated employees that rely on his business for their main income. I just try to praise and thank my husband for all of his super hard work and thank God for continually providing for us through thick and thin as He always does.

And yes, another thank you to Carrie and family for providing HOD for all of us, we are truly blessed...safety in the plans and the freedom to do what we feel led to do. Truly a blessing, and well said Rebecca.

I'm so glad you are still here, Rebecca! I pray for rest for you in this busy season. Thank you for your kind words here, Rebecca and Candice! I know Carrie would be responding to this in a heartbeat, but she injured her hand in a conveyer belt, and it's difficult for her to type right now. It is nothing serious, but her hand is very swollen and has some deep cuts. Say a prayer for her if you get a chance!

In Christ, :)

Rebecca,

It's good to hear from you and to "see" you even during this busy season in your life. :D I'm so glad that you are finding some peace with HOD and that you are feeling that you're going in the right direction with your family as you homeschool. 8)

Candice,

Thank you for your gracious words. They certainly uplifted me today, as I'm typing very slowly with finger braces on! I appreciate your sunny, Christian wisdom and the joy you bring to the board! :D

Julie,

Thanks for alerting the ladies for prayer on my part. I've been a sore trooper for a few days. I thank the Lord for watching over me and for making sure it wasn't so much worse.

Blessings,
Carrie

Carrie,

So sorry to hear about your hand/fingers. I can imagine it is probably the last thing you needed right now! How dedicated you are to all of us to still come to the boards and respond as usual.
Praying for a super quick recovery.

Carrie, so sorry to hear about your hand....I will be praying.

I too, want to say thank you. Thank you for all you do.... I do feel me finding HOD was a God thing. Like I have said before .... this is our 18th yr. This is our first time that we have had two children close in age.... 17 months apart. 6 & 5.

I just love it and love what you have done.

Praying a special prayer that the Lord would bless and keep you and make His face shine on you.

Carrie-
I want you to know I am lifting up a prayer for your poor hand!

Thank you ladies for replying to my thread and encouraging me!

I realize my "vent" about our job situation might have sounded bad- especially in light of the economy and so many people who are struggling. This of course- was not my intent!

It is hard to explain how hard it can be to manage my family with my husband working 55 hours a week- and no family/support or help...
I just "tank" by the end of the week and it is really, really draining and hard emotionally- (lonely).
So- that is what I meant by not handling it well- also the "stress" at the job ups at this time of year- coupled with the added stuff of holidays and more sicknesses- it just really is a lot.

I am thankful for his job and God's provision- but I don't like being so worn out/strung out that I am not the Mommy I need to be...
That is important too!!!

Anyway-
God bless all you sweet, sweet ladies,
Rebecca

Don't sweat it, we all "vent" sometimes. I can relate to what you are saying. We have no family / support either, so on the occasional week where my hubby has long hours (thankfully not often), I am frazzled too. Both DH's parents are with the Lord and we are 5 hours from my family. We are in need of a really good babysitter!

Have a blessed Christmas and enjoy those kiddos.

Rebecca- So glad to see you are still here and loving HOD. I am sorry things are so hectic. It is hard when it is only you all the time doing everything. Hang in there and stay close to Him. He will give you strength and bless you in this! Looking forward to life settling down for you and seeing you back here more regularly. :D Will keep you in prayer!

Carrie- I am so sorry to hear about your hand. How scary that must have been. Praise God that He protected you from anything more serious! We need those precious hands of yours! I will be praying for your recovery. Wish there was something more I could do.

Rebecca - We all need to vent sometimes, and it's actually a pretty healthy thing to do rather than keep it all bottled up inside. I think this time of year is a joyful time, but also a very busy and somewhat hectic time. I find myself quite emotional these days! Up and down, up and down. I have an example from half an hour ago. I just about lost it when my 2 pumpkin cranberry bread loaves had molded overnight because we didn't put them in the fridge. I really was in a funk about it. It was the one "Christmas-type" food I've gotten made. Anyway, I put on some praise music. MADE myself sing along, and after awhile I was feeling quite better and pretty much over it. I know this was a silly thing to get worked up over, but I had to get myself out of that mood to see it. I pray God gives you extra strength when your dh works long hours. My dh travels a lot, and I get lonely as well. It helps me to get a babysitter for even just a few hours then. I come back happy to see my dc and be home again. If you are able to do that - any time of the day or night - and day of the week - I think you'd benefit so much from it. As homeschool moms, sometimes we have to get pretty creative about how we do this! But it is worth the effort to have a replenished mom! Also, renting a funny movie helps me too. OR, an energy saver for me is to have the dc do "dinner and a movie" when my dh is traveling. They have their food on paper plates in the living room and watch a movie. I pop popcorn - sometimes I make root beer floats, but not always. Anyway, they rarely get to watch long movies and they never eat in the living room, so it's great fun for them and a bit of a break for me. I'll be thinking of you - you are so not alone in these feelings. Praying for you to be refreshed!

In Christ,
Julie :)
