Painters tape letters

Post by jewel7123 » Thu Dec 04, 2008 3:29 pm

How do you do round portions of letters using the tape? I am having a hard time with that, and just wondering if there is a secret I'm missing. Straight letters such as A are a cinch, but letters with rounded portions such as B, C, O, P, etc. are not. I hope this is not a stupid question, lol!

Here's a real technical answer for you. I just kind of smoosh it around the corners and push it down. My kids love to "help" by holding their finger on a part of the tape. We make our letters R-E-A-L-L-Y big, which I'm sure helps with the curves! I also use plain ole masking tape. It sticks much better than painter's tape which helps, too. (I ran out of masking tape once and used some painters tape that I had around...and found that out.)

I was going to give you some pictures, but you really can't see the curves up close enough in any of them. (If you want a picture anyway, let me know and I can sure post one for you!)

I do the "smooshy-thing" too. We use masking tape as well. It helps to kind of slide my hand over it to guide it as we "smoosh".

I'm another "smoosher" here! Also, I agree that painter's tape just doesn't stick as well as masking tape, so you may want to give plain old masking tape a try. We do our letter very big too. For example, 4 letters take up our whole living room floor space. :D

Blessings,
Carrie
