Replacement for Little Women in Geo Program?
Replacement for Little Women in Geo Program?
Earlier in the year, Carrie suggested a replacement for Pride and Prejudice in the Lit program since my dd had already read it. My dd has also read Little Women previously. It is coming up in the plans and I want to be prepared. Carrie, I'm wondering if you could suggest a replacement book that would fulfill the particular literary concept that that unit is focusing on?

Tiffini,
I am not using the Geo guide yet, but I recall reading on here that you can substitute the girl book with the boy book. So Little Women is #5 and on boy list #5 is Captain Courageous and Children of the New Forest. Happy reading!
The catalog also says to substitute #5 girl with #5 boy.

Tiffini,
I just read Children of the New Forest and it is a good book. I would think it would appeal to girls as well as boys. I haven't read Captains Courageous yet though.

Tiffini,
The ladies did a great job of answering you. I would recommend substituting the boy books for the girl books. I am actually having to do that very thing in several places this year in the Geography guide for my own son (simply because he's already read several of the "boy" books I ended up picking)!
I know my sister is allowing her son to read the "girl" books from the World Geography guide in his free-time, simply because she didn't want him to miss them (and from what she's told me so far he is really enjoying them).
Blessings,
Carrie
