Choosing Guides and Placement

Post by honeymommy4 » Tue May 07, 2013 12:45 pm

I will be homeschooling 3 children next year, ages 5 (girl), 7 (boy) and 9 (boy) then. The 5 and 7 will have JUST had birthdays by then so just turned 5 and 7. I will also have 2 young boys, 1 and 3 by then. We have always homeschooled and we have mainly done unit studies. I have used HOD in the past but never successfully because i was not willing to be flexible. :) Having homeschooled for 3 years now I am starting to understand and feel more comfortable with things and also have gotten my children on board with schooling. Up until this year we had so many problems with my oldest' behavior. things are much better now that he's matured & learned!!

I'm ready to come back to HOD but need help with placement. I would LOVE to combine as much as possible, the fun things like science, history and we all participate in the fun activities! just wondering what would be best. Having lots of boys things are active, and busy.

My 9yo is very strong in history, science and reading. Slower in spelling & writing but he really needs a push in spelling. he is very behind IMO. learning cursive.

My (then) 7yo is a very independent worker. he's also advanced in reading, and actually better than my 9yo in spelling. Just working on printing legibly. :)

My (then) 5yo knows letters, etc. and really wants to "do school". she has not gotten a lot of instruction up until now.

i am also getting LHTH because my 2yo LOVES fingerplays, etc. and we do some circle time in the morning. nothing structured though. :)

i won't have a lot of time to do school but I will get chunks here and there. Please help me decide how to combine even if I use 3 guides but combine certain sides... thank you!! :)
