Little Hands for Kindergarten
Little Hands for Kindergarten
Hi! I am planning to use Little Hands to Heaven for my 5 year old son in Kindergarten. I'll add appropriate math, reading, and handwriting to bring Little Hands to Kindergarten level. Do you think it is important to also bring in science and history/social studies in some way? I thought about adding Five in a Row or nature studies...I just don't want to overwhelm him with too much. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

I don't think formal science/social studies is absolutely necessary for k year. Reading through Before Five in a Row or a Five in a Row booklist and talking about the stories in addition to LHTH with K resources sounds just about right. I wouldn't formally add Five in a Row with the manual or you will feel like you have too much to do.

I agree. I don't think it's necessary to add History or Science in Kind. In fact, I opted not to buy the Science stuff for LHFHG (because of finances) and my children have been fine diving into Science in Beyond for 2nd grade.
