Finished TRL and on to ER

Post by moedertje » Mon Jan 14, 2013 2:03 pm

Dd is thrilled that she got to finish TRl before the end of the year. :D She is even more excited to have her own Bible to read. :D We started the Early Readers Bible and will go through both Bibles, as we did with her brothers. :D :D
She has been doing great and wants to keep reading, so she read 4 Dick and Jane books to Daddy the other night. :D

The ER have been a great blessing to our family, my children have enjoyed all the books and we even have all the extra ER titles. So, in going through the ER for the last time I am sure to savor the time :D

Thank you so much Carrie for these great books and most of all for the questions that go with the books! :D

Awwww. Congratulations to your daughter (and you too)!

My DS cheerfully does one page out of the reading lesson book each day. We won't be finishing early..! He does so good but never wants to do an extra page. We're on unit 16 in the HOD guide and lesson 5 in the Reading Lesson. LOL. But I am okay with that. The most important thing is he is confident, reading perfectly and enjoying it! :D

It took both of my youngest daughters 1 1/2 years to complete TRL. We mostly did 2 pages at a time, and once they neared the end of a unit they'd want to do 3-4 pages to have that unit done.

It is great seeing them take off in the ERs right after, isn't it? They feel so confident and accomplished. Infact, my soon to be 11yo told me the other day when the youngest is done with the Bible reader, that she is taking it back for her bedtime reading. They love that Bible storybook. Infact, many of the ERs seem to get confiscated as bedtime reading once they are through them. I had to hunt to find them all when it was time to use them with the 7yo this year.

It took Dd 14 months to go through TRL. She did similar 2-4 pages a day and toward the end she was doing 4-6 pages! :D :D
We have been doing some extra phonics alongside the ER books as well, but she is flying through the Early Readers Bible :) :D

Way to go, dd! :D I am so glad she has started her ERS and is enjoying her readings so much. That is exciting! :D I think that is special she reads to daddy too. I bet he is loving hearing her read. Emmett is reading "The Early Reader's Bible" now too, and he loves it as well. I too am thankful for the ERS, and like you, especially thankful for the questions. I know they help lay the foundation to develop strong reading comprehension skills, right from the start. :D
