Read aloud fun for the whole family!!

Post by deltagal » Mon Aug 13, 2012 12:43 pm

We are S.L.O.W.L.Y. beginning our new school year. Last year I purchased all of the Storytime selections for RTR, but my ds did not use them, since he was doing high-school work and his load was a bit heavy. So, we set them aside. This year I pulled them out and decided to use them as read-alouds for the whole family. We've been reading Mystery of the Silver Coins for the last week. Boy, is it good! I'm so glad we decided to make this change. I read-aloud during lunch and for a little while following. Lunch-time is a time that everyone is here and no one is in a hurry. How perfect is that? We are all enjoying it immensely.

I guess I should also add that we read Forbidden Gates last spring. And it was also a great selection for all of my clan - ages 7 to 14 at the time!
With Joy!

I, too, have picked out a bunch of the books from HOD for family read aloud times. . . .other than our read aloud school times! We're addicted to these great book selections! Extension packages are great for this, especially if your kids don't really "need" them, but would enjoy the stories which enhance their learning!
