Carrie, please come to SE PA!

Uggh, my cousin just called me from NC after talking to you and getting a personal "guided tour" through HOD. She got to touch the materials and look through them. I'm so jealous! Great, one more reason to be jealous of my cousin - 'course that's another topic and probably one better left alone! LOL! Anyway, HOD people, please think about hitting a few spots in the NE. If I had my way, please come to SE PA. We have lots of eager homeschoolers here!

Laura, I just wanted to say hi from a fellow PA Hoodie! We're currently up near Penn State. I'd definitely consider driving down to the CHAP convention if Carrie was there!

Oh girls, I'd love to go the CHAP of PA conference, but it conflicts with the one in Texas! :D If you girls can just get them to change the date...

By the way, Laura, I enjoyed meeting your cousin (along with several other wonderful ladies from this board)! :D

It's so neat to meet (in person) those we've corresponded with here on the board and by email. :D

Blessings,
Carrie

I'm so sorry that you couldn't have Carrie in PA, but we really enjoyed her here in NC. It was a pleasure meeting her and getting the personal tour through HOD. She was wonderful at answering my questions as how to continue with my math and phonics programs and how to add picture and composer study. I loved attending her DITHOR workshop. I had just attended several workshops on teaching your children reading and how to lead them to higher reasoning levels of thinking and when I heard how DITHOR is set up, it corresponded perfectly. It even have Biblical character training to boot! I knew Mary was excited about it and figured I would find it interesting, but even with my high level of expectation, I was blown away by how wonderful the program is. It's going to be difficult for me to wait until we're through the emerging readers to start DITHOR. I might just have to do both! :D

We sure did! (and Patty, I was very glad to meet you in person as well!) That late Saturday afternoon slot is probably one of the the worst as far as attendance, b/c so many people leave the conference by that time on Saturday, but I *so* appreciated getting to hear about DITHOR in person, Carrie. It just made my final decision that we will be using this program in our family. I was so exuberant when telling my husband about the workshop, that he was asking me "okay, so how much do we need to save so you can buy the whole thing:-)". What a guy!

What a guy is right! How wonderful that he is so supportive. It was nice to meet you to Amanda and I wanted to say thank you for steering me to HOD. Without your input, I would likely still be floundering around trying to figure out which way to go. I have such a wonderful peace about HOD and I am anxiously looking forward to our next year of school :D

Don't rule out PA altogether! There is another homeschool fair in PA called SEARCH (Southeastern Regional CHristian Homeschoolers). ;) It is definitely not as large as CHAP and it occurs in the middle of June. Here is the link: http://www.searchofpa.org/. This may be the one Laura is referring to. (BTW Laura, I live about 20 minutes from you in P-town)

Hey, Kay in PA! That's great to find another HODdie so close! Yes, I was referring to SEARCH, which I'll be attending. It would be great to meet you sometime. I'll be doing Beyond with my ds. Email me if you would like.

Laura and Kay,

I will look into the link you sent for the SEARCH of PA. Thanks for passing it along. We sign up for conventions in September or October for the following year, so we'll take a look at it for next year. We usually stick to the very large conventions in order to maximize our schedule to see the most people. :D

I really enjoyed meeing both Amanda and Patty, and we also got to meet Charlene from the board too. I was privileged to visit with many, many other moms using HOD at the convention as well, so we had wonderful trip.

I'm so glad that some of you were able to hear our talk on DITHR. We always enjoy the chance to talk about DITHR and are glad for those we get an opportunity to hear it.

Blessings,
Carrie

Well, if you're taking requests... :D

come to Lansing next year or Cincinnati. Lansing's nearby, but my folks are in Cincinnati so I wouldn't mind either one.

Carrie,

Have you ever been to ICHE in IL?

Just curious. (If not, I would LOVE to see you there!)

It used to always be in the middle of May. This year it is the first weekend in June. I'm not sure what the plan is for next year.

The website is ICHE.org

How about coming to sunny southern California in July? 8) The CHEA (Christain Home Educators Assoc.) convention is the second week in July and is in Long Beach. :D http://www.cheaofca.org/
