Confused over extra packages with PHFHG!!

Okay...so do I need to get the Self Study Deluxe History Package for the Newly Independent Reader?? I saw that the Draw and Write thru History was in this package that I know they'll need, and since I can only see the first week only, are these the books that they will rotate to independently in the Independent History section? So I could get this for my 3rd grader, and get the extension package for him to do instead for his 5th grade brother?

I just bought the PHFHG guide, and yes, you would want to order the deluxe package as well for your 3rd grader if you want him to be able to do the Independent History Study boxes (making for a well-rounded program). As far as I understand, the extension package for your 5th grader would be for him to read in addition to the rest of the program.
