Wanted to share dd's excitement!

Post by psreit » Wed Apr 11, 2012 9:13 am

For some copywork today, I allowed dd to write something of her choice. She does understand and enjoy most of the poetry in Beyond, but I thought I'd give her an opportunity to write something else today. Her sister, whom she hasn't seen since October, is coming for a visit tomorrow. She is so excited and I know her mind is focused on this visit. I asked her if she wanted to write something about her sister. She said 'no'. What did she end up with? A poem! It was her thoughts. I helped her put it together. But, she came up with the words and rhyming! :D Here it is.

God's Creation

God, You made the trees,
The flowers, so fresh and sweet.
I thank you for my mom and dad,
For your creation I am glad.

This is a girl who has had many struggles in reading and writing and processing certain types of information. Thank you, Carrie, for your guides, which are helping Angie reach these milestones in her learning. :D She is so proud of this work! This is such an encouragement to me as well. :D

Thanks for all the replies. Angie is a very sweet girl(young lady, as she will soon be 9 and doesn't want to be called a little girl anymore :) ). She has experienced much loss and neglect in her life as an infant and toddler, on top of being born with mild CP and some sensory processing delays. Thankfully, she shows much empathy toward others who are hurting and she loves the Lord Jesus very much. Yes, we have our frustrations and even behavioral issues at times, but I can say the Lord really blessed us when he added Angie to our family. I can't imagine life without her. HOD has been wonderful for us! :D :D
