Hi Ladies,
Could someone tell me what is recommended after 6B? I went to the website and they have Discovering Math Common Core Standards gr.7-8, Discovering Math gr. 7-11, New Elementary Math gr. 7-11 and New Syllabus Math gr.7-11. Some things were discontinued and it was all just very confusing. Do we just jump into Algebra after 6B?
Thanks so much for your help.
Shirley
Confused about Singapore?
Re: Confused about Singapore?
Shirley,
I agree that it is confusing! After Singapore Primary Mathematics 6A/6B, if you desire to stay with Singapore math, we recommend that you head into Discovering Mathematics 7A/7B (which has been renamed from Discovering Mathematics 1A/1B). Discovering Mathematics 1A/1B is no longer available, and 7A/7B contains most of it.
Discovering Mathematics in the closest of the Singapore upper level maths to the Primary Mathematics series. It also has more examples and more step-by-step helps and fully worked solutions for all problems. It follows an integrated approach to math. So, DM 7A/7B includes Pre-Algebra, some Algebra I and some Geometry. It is roughly the equivalent to Pre-Algebra.
We are working through the B book of this series now with our second oldest son.
It is not easy, but it is very well-done.
Here is a link to ordering 7A/7B on our website: http://www.heartofdakota.com/missions-t ... ckages.php
Since it just came out about 6 weeks ago, you need to add Discovering Mathematics 1 to your cart to get 7A and Discovering Mathematics 2 to your cart to get 7B. These are there renamed versions and is what will show up in your cart when you add them at the following link (after scrolling down to the bottom of the page at the link to find the math): http://www.heartofdakota.com/missions-t ... ckages.php
The Workbooks are extra practice, and only contain extra sets of problems to be completed at the end of each chapter. We have not used the workbooks ourselves, as there is plenty of practice within the textbook alone.
Blessings,
Carrie
