List of people or cultures studied in CTC?
List of people or cultures studied in CTC?
Somewhere I got a wonderful list that I printed a few years ago that had many of the topics and people that are studied in Bigger Hearts. It was really helpful for my DH to see this overview of the year. Seeing a list like that makes it easier for him to defend our choice to homeschool and the curriculum we choose. I know about the weekly topics in the sample table of contents, but from that, he's not able to see how many other cultures, people or events might be covered outside of the Israelite/Hebrew nation.I know that Ancients deals a lot with the people of the Bible, but I'm sure that other cultures are being studied too. I was wondering if anyone had a list of topics, people or events that are covered in CTC?

Re: List of people or cultures studied in CTC?
It has been 2 years since we did CTC, but glancing through my guide this is what I see as far as people groups/cultures/cities. Israelites, Babylonians,Egypt, Midianites, Philistines, Assyrians, Phoenicians, Judah, Syrians, Kingdom of Macedonia, Greece, Spartans and history of Olympics, Persian Empire, Alexandria, Hellenistic Empire, Rome from Early times on up to the powerful Roman Empire, Carthaginians, the Punic Wars, Corinth, Jerusalem and other cities in time of Christ.
For the people you have the biblical people of Abraham, Moses, Noah, Samson, David, Samuel, Saul, Solomon, Daniel, the Kings of Judah, John the Baptist, Pontius Pilate and of course Jesus, but you also have various Pharoahs including Thutmosis and Tutankhamen, Cyrus the Great, Archimedes, Phidippides, King Leonidas, Phiip II of Macedonia, Alexander the Great, Ptolemy, Cleopatra, Romulus, Hannibal, Fabius Maxiums, Aemilus Paulus, Julius Caesar, Mark Antony and Octavian. Other kings and leaders are also talked about as you look at the different wars.
This is not an exhaustive list at all, just what I saw as I quickly thumbed through. These are study through the History Spines, but also the What in the World CD's and the history storytime books. Some of them are studied longer than others. You do an entire history spine on Rome and Greece.
