My dd is finishing up RS E and my plan for next year is to not continue with RS and switch to another math but I'm not sure which one. I've been looking at Singapore but I don't know how the switch will go after looking at their site. I'm almost thinking she would start at 4A?? Is Singapore that much ahead? Does anyone know what their levels are equivalent to? And thinking ahead, I know she will need 4 math credits Algebra 1 and higher for college. I'm having trouble understanding what their upper levels are equivalent to. Thanks again for the help!

Re: Switching from RightStart to Singapore Math
Hi Christine! If you go to www.singaporemath.com you can have your dd take the free Singapore Math placement test. It is very accurate (provided students complete it with no help), and it will give you an exact place to start. Singapore Math, in general, is considered at least a year advanced. We are currently doing Discovering Math 7A, and I think it is very advanced. Here are the steps you can follow for this...ourhsreviews wrote:My dd is finishing up RS E and my plan for next year is to not continue with RS and switch to another math but I'm not sure which one. To begin with, you could give the Singapore Math placement test, printable and free at this website...
http://www.singaporemath.com
Just follow these steps once you are on the website...
1. Click on "parents"
2. Click on "assessment tests" (which is a clickable link under Step 3 on that page).
3. Click on the level you want to begin with under PRIMARY MATHEMATICS 3RD & U.S. EDITION SERIES , keeping in mind Singapore Math is considered a year advanced - in other words, start LOWER than you think your dc will place.
4. Print the test and have your dc take it, making sure not to help with anything as this inflates scores.
5. Follow the guidelines for placement (dc will probably take several levels tests before arriving at a placement).
6. Wherever dc place, even if it is lower than you anticipated, start there. If they tested into a "B" book, just begin with that. It will be fine!
Here are a few links to some posts that may be helpful reading as well...
