lhth with 2 & 4 year olds?
I know this program can be used with both age groups, but simultaneously?! Has anyone done it that can offer helpful tips or suggestions? I ordered the 3/4 package, and I already own the younger Bible. Do the kids work together? We also have Bigger on the way for my rising 3rd grader, so exiting!
Re: lhth with 2 & 4 year olds?
We used it last school year with my 4yo son, & 2yo daughter. We went more for the middle and it worked great for us!
The 4 yo we did everything with him, and added in workbooks because he wanted them.
I feel that my son was fully prepared to start LHFHG for Kindergarten. Although for us that was not until November.
(We only do school 4 days a week and this adds an extra 9 weeks)
I will say it didn't hold dd2's attention very long, and she has begun it again recently as she turned 4 this month.
She loves it!
As far as doing it together - we did just that. I told the Bible story, did the rhyme etc. to both at the same time.
When 2yo tired of it she quit early, and played nearby. LHTH only takes about 30 minutes which is great for this.
There are a few activities in the guide that are divided into Olders/Youngers and that helps. It gave them their own activity.
HTH some. We did it with no problem and enjoyed it, and I believe you will also!

Re: lhth with 2 & 4 year olds?
My 2 yr old (just turned 3, actually) has a LOT of energy. She's not the "typical" sit quietly little girl. We are sorta doing LHTH, but a lot of it she isn't ready for. I fill in with some stuff she does like to do, like library books, drawing (I love to ask what she is drawing, she says struff like "applesauce" LOL), she is starting to use scissors and loves gluesticks.
Anyways, as soon as she becomes more teachable (ahem) I will go back to the beginning of LHTH and start over, doin' it as written! I can hardly wait, it is going to be soooo fun. And then if we have time before she is ready for LHFHG, we will do LHTH a second time with the other Bible and devotion book and the "olders" instructions in LHTH. (Carrie has written ideas in the guide for older and younger children, I think that was a great idea!)
My super snuggly loves to cuddle and listen son probably would have loved LHTH when he was 3 or even 2. It is all in the individuality of the child. I didn't know about HOD when he was that age though.

Re: lhth with 2 & 4 year olds?
I've done LHTH 3 times with my own sons, but all at different times. They all loved it so! I also taught LHTH to a group of 2-5 yo dc at our church during a women's Bible study. Like TrueGRIT, we did it together, and it worked well. The older dc could do more, but the younger dc participated almost as much. I didn't expect as much from the wee ones. The boxes of plans in LHTH each take 2-5 minutes. This works nicely because it keeps things moving along for the littles. I would plan to do LHTH again in a few years with the little one, when that child is 4 yo, as at that point, that child will need to do it all to its fullest to have the skills intact to do LHFHG. For now though, I'd get to enjoying it with the two of them! HTH!

Re: lhth with 2 & 4 year olds?
I did it for my oldest 2 daughters when they were 4.5 and 2.5. It was too easy for the 4.5 year old, in terms of she already knew letters, colors, and could count to 10. But it was an intro to school, structured time, and she learned a lot of Bible stories that year. My younger couldn't really do a lot of it - cutting was too hard for her for example. I did use the options for 4/5 and 2/3 YO and that worked out really well, they were similar and similar concepts but adapted for those ages. I used a completely different children's Bible, which was probably even higher comprehension level than the one for olders in the LHTH plans. My 2nd DD (then 2YO) was one who liked sitting and listening to stories or doing the activities, she wasn't an extremely busy child, so it worked well for us to do it all together. If your younger one isn't so into it I wouldn't push it at that age, just let them do what they want to and what they can and make it fun.
