Hi, I'm kind of new to HOD. My son is in 1st grade and we are using LHFHG. We are in unit 15 and he and I are both loving it! We are just about finished with our phonics program and are ready to move on to the emerging readers. I was just wondering if there is a place to find the questions that correspond with the ER books. If I understand the programs correctly, the questions should be in the BLHFHG appendix but we are still about 6 months from needing the whole program and I am not ready to buy it yet (that's budgeted for the income tax refund). So is there a place to purchase just the questions? I don't want to hold him back with his reading so should I just have him read the ER books and forget the discussion questions?
Any advice is appreciated,
Shawn

Re: Emerging Readers
The questions are only in the back of the Beyond and Bigger guides. The lower level Bible suggested "The Early Readers Bible" has the questions at the end of each chapter, so you could get that and have him/her read it for now and then get the Beyond guide when you get to the next book.

Re: Emerging Readers
Shawn,
Congratulations to you the teacher & your child on completing phonics and being ready to begin ER. My dd is in LHFHG but has a long way to go before she is ready for ER. I looked in the Beyond guide and the questions it says to use for The Early Reader's Bible are in the text. The schedule says to read a story a day in units 1 and finishing in unit 9. The questions are in the text. This should give you time so that you can order the next guide & packages later. You would only need The Early Reader's Bible and it is 513 pages long. HTH

Re: Emerging Readers
Thank you so much for your responses. That does clear things up for me and it sounds like "The Early Reader's Bible" should bridge the gap nicely for us.
Thanks again,

Re: Emerging Readers
Hi Shawn!
We are using the "Early Reader's Bible" and built-in questions with our ds finishing LHFHG too, and he is loving it!
I limit him to 1 story a day, though he'd love to read more. When he finishes, we will use the Beyond guide's schedule and questions and start with "The Beginner's Bible." We did this with our middle ds, and really enjoyed lengthening the Emerging Reader's set this way (by about 9 weeks), as he was still doing LHFHG when he started it as well.
I think you will love the ERS! It is full of wonderful books! When your little one is done with the Early Reader's Bible, I would get the Beyond guide and move on to "The Beginner's Bible." If the budget is too tight at that point, just give Mike a call at HOD - he is more than willing to work out payment plans and is wonderful to work with. HTH, and enjoy seeing your little one progress in reading - such a joy to be a part of!
In Christ,
Julie
