Thank you all for such a warm welcome. And Melanie, that is exactly what I am hoping to do. :D It has been a long search to find a curriculum that matches with my son's need for a strong hands-on learning style so I'm planning to continue with HOD as long as we can. Kimber

I'm so glad to see another "Preparing" family & can't wait to start comparing notes. I'll be using it with a 10 year old son. I'll also have a 15 year old daughter that I would like to include as much as possible, but as I look at her plans for next year I don't know how much time she'll have for us!

Hi Janet!
That is so neat that our children are similar ages. And I am looking forward to sharing how things go too. I think it is so neat that tomorrow is our last day of school and both of my boys are really looking forward to our next school year. :) I like being a student as well as the teacher with both my boys so next year I will be doing 5th grade and 10th grade work. BWG! I worked today on getting our Common Place books together as well as our general notebooks set up for next year. I think that is one of the best things about homeschooling. I get to learn too. :D Thank you Carrie for creating an elementary program that even a mom wants to do. Kimber

What is a Common Place book? (Can you tell I'm a newbie?)

Hi Anita!
Well from what I understand from reading the samples online, it is a composition notebook that the student collects their copywork, poetry, scripture verses, etc...I think they add to it through the year. I'm sure I'll learn more once I get the teacher's guide but I figured that I could at least glue a title cover with some fun clip art on the composition notebooks and have them ready for the next school year. I think I'm just excited to get started and I just have to do something. I have pre-school year nesting. Kimber

Kimber,

I'm so excited for you to get your order for "Preparing...". We'll be teaching it next year with our second son right along with you. :D

I love to try the ideas out for a new curriculum on my poor oldest son, and then teach the guide exactly as written the following year to my second son! That way I get to share the excitement of the new program along with all of you! :D

Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm. 8)
Blessings,
Carrie
