Turning our eyes toward the geography guide...

Ladies,

I just wanted to let you know that we are hard at work on ideas for the new geography guide. It is exciting to think of entering the high school years formally with HOD. We'll be sharing sneak peeks on the board and thoughts about the various subject areas coming within the geography guide as the year progresses. We pray that you will enjoy these peeks into the guide as much as we enjoy sharing them.

As our second oldest son is working his way through MTMM, it is exciting to see years of hard work with him coming into fruition. I am thrilled to see his solid preparation for high school and am less worried this time around than I was with my oldest son (even though my oldest son was well-prepared too). I pray that each of you will be encouraged that you can homeschool through high school as we walk this path together.

Can we have a sneak peek into when we will get our first sneak peek?

I'm curious, given that these are high school guides, if there has been any thought into providing two versions of the guides - one that is more student directed, and one that is more parent/teacher directed. One problem I have with my 6th and 8th grader working out of the guidebook is that I don't always know, unless I record it elsewhere, what it is that they are to be doing. That seems like it defeats the purpose of being open and go if I have to record everything first before letting them have at their individual work. Also, there are some days I require them to write out answers to the questions in italics, and then when they turn them in I cannot check their work until later on when I can take the guide back and see what the questions were. This might be remedied at the high school level, since we really want them to be as independent as possible, by having two different types of guides. Just tossing it out there to see what others think.

I've said it before, I'll say it again, I'd love a separate student guide. I hear people saying the student can just have it, but it's not working here. Certainly not with combined kids. Student can skip most of the apendix. It would also be great to have answers to the italic questions.
