What guides are you doing?
Re: What guides are you doing?
We are loving CTC and my ds is learning and remembering so much! Using CTC unit 8 with young 10 yo (7/02) ds in 5th grade. Using LHFHG and loving it with 6 yo dd in 1st grade, on unit 18. Doing double math, fine motor, and thinking skills daily so she can catch up with 1st grade resources having just completed K resource schedule. dd is loving it and day goes quickly- 90 minutes and pace is perfect, if I add anything else she says are we done yet. Blessings, Tammy
Re: What guides are you doing?
We are doing LHFHG and Bigger and loving them both! This is my second time to use LHFHG. What a pleasure to read the Thornton Burgess books again! Big Brother is enjoying hearing them again, too! He also listens in on History. I credit his interest in History to his early exposure to it in LHFHG. I love that both my kids listen in on the other's readings. Good books should be enjoyed more than once! Thanks, Carrie, for your hard work on this curriculum. It is a blessing to our family!

Re: What guides are you doing?
My oldest, a young 7, is now at full-speed in Bigger
My middle, a young 5, is using Little Hearts at full-speed
My youngest, just turned 3, is using Little Hands at full-speed, more or less We have some off weeks but for the most part she's staying on track!
It took a few months, but we're in our groove now and doing quite well. We start at 8 and even with all three guides are typically done by 10:30, taking one break in the middle of that time.
We love HOD! I'm so grateful we have been able to begin from the start with HOD and we don't see our course changing for as long as we continue to feel called to homeschooling!

Re: What guides are you doing?
My 4yo is doing LHTH. My almost 7yo is doing Beyond. My just turned and 11yo are starting CTC next week. Well, actually, 9yo is starting next week. I have other stuff for 11yo to do for 4 weeks. I tried uncombining them and it didn't work out. We went back and both finished Preparing instead of just 9yo. Now we are moving on.

Re: What guides are you doing?
My 5 year old is doing LHFHG 3-4 days a week. I think we'll keep this schedule through Bigger, which will hopefully put her into Preparing along about 4th grade.
My 10 year old is working through Preparing (which, along with RTR, is our very favorite guide ).
My just turned 14 year old is spending a year studying church history as we anxiously await the first HOD high school guide next year.

Re: What guides are you doing?
I hesitated to write in and say what we are doing because it is very anti-norm. My husband lost his job and we are on a very very tight budget and have been for awhile. Somehow I sold some of the items my oldest needs, so he is working from only some of the ctc guide right now and some other subjects outside of hod. I plan to purchase the things we need after the beginning of the year. My daughter is working in three guides at once right now. LHFHG for history, BEYOND for ERs and Storytime, PHFHG for dictation. She actually places in bigger so we will be purchasing in jan/feb.
It is only odd because of finances. Hopefully we will get it all straightened out here soon. God has been sooo very good and has provided all we truly need during this trial. Thank God for His love and grace!!!

Re: What guides are you doing?
We are truely blessed to be using PHFHG, BHFHG, LHFHG and LHTH.
We are in Unit 25 of Preparing with my eldest. We have worked most consistently with her this year but hoping that by the end of February she will be finished and starting RtR. We have really enjoyed the selection of books, and the discussions we've had.
DD2 is on Unit 14 of BHFHG, and we hope that by mid next year she will move on to PHFHG. She started combined with her sister but it really wasn't working, so we moved her back and it has made the world of difference to her feelings of success. It is just wonderful.
DS1 is doing LHFHG. He has speech issues and I also think some learning disability, but we are moving forward and honestly it has been the best thing for him. We are nearing midway through TRL with some pretty solid progress.
DS2 has done a little of LHTH but with everything else going on in our lives this year, he keeps getting missed out but I know his time will come.
I am still so grateful to God for bringing this amazing programme to us. Just this year when we found it, we have had some pretty major things happen yet mostly school has carried on, although we are not as far ahead as I would like. I ended up with surgery in February, and then we moved in August, and just this week I have found out my health issues are due to requiring a pacemaker to be fitted. God brought this to us just at the right time as I know the children would not have received a portion of the quality this year without it. So thank you again Carrie for writing, Mike and the boys for all you do, and to Julie for your editing and your wonderful advice around here.

Re: What guides are you doing?
I have three in REV2REV and two in Beyond. We are enjoying our year. Exploration Education is the biggest hit from REV2REV, but they have really enjoyed the state study and George Washington's world also. The signers book is fun too. We are just starting week 11. We took a break today and went on a field trip to a pumpkin patch!
