Beyond Confused- Singapore math for LHFHG

Post by chelseahenson » Sat Sep 29, 2012 3:43 pm

I am trying to place my order for the LHFHG program, and It sounds like the K-5 level is out of print, but I found some Singapore options on Amazon. I then went to Singapore math and was able to add the Early bird series to my cart. Am I doing something wrong??? I have also seen posts about using 1A/ 1B and even 2A/ 2B (is this more for 1st grade)??? I am just completely confused as to what is recommended now. For a 5 (almost 6) year old girl, and a boy that will be 7 tomorrow, what math should I use for LGFHG? Neither have had much exposure to math, but have been working with their numbers in K-4 private Christian school. Thank you so much!!!

The version of earlybird K math that HOD has scheduled in LHFHG is now out of print and out of stock at HOD. There is a sticky at the top where Carrie explains this. She plans to pick a new one soon but has not yet. You can get either the new standards Earlybird or Singapore Essentials K math for now. I have used Singapore Essentials and I prefer that. For your first grader I would get Singapore Primary US edition 1a/1b. You can use the schedule in the back of LHFHG or get the Beyond guide if you want Carrie's hands on lessons for 1a/1b.

So if I do not plan to pull by kids out of private school, and start HOD until November, would everyone recommend waiting to order materials so the lessons match the actual math book ordered? If I went ahead and ordered, will the appendix let me know what to cover out of essentials each day?

Thanks for your help!!!!

You might want to wait and see if Carrie has chosen the K math by then. In the appendix you will find a schedule for the 1st grade math SM US ED 1a and 1b. The K math that is scheduled is no longer in print. But you could line up the Essential books topics with the K hands on if you wanted. The K hands on is scheduled in the LHFHG guide.

Thank you so much. That really helped!!! I think I may just order, but wait on the math.

If Carrie is out there... do you know when a decision for the new math will be coming? Thank you so much!
