Post by titus2 » Sat Sep 15, 2012 6:47 pm

Does anybody have any suggestions to beef up beyond? My ds isn't ready for bigger but needs just a little something extra as far as reading material. I know there are extensions for the other levels any ideas for beyond

Is she ready for DITHR? I'm more or less in the same boat and will be starting it in about a month. We read through the ER this summer and are now going through the supplemental titles until we are BOTH ready for the extra time needed for DITHR :D I have also gotten books from the library related to the history portion.

I'm not sure how old your ds is - so this link may not be helpful, but here it is...

Carrie explains how to beef up Beyond for a fourth grader:

If you are looking for living books to enjoy reading for fun with American history, there are some series that Carrie has used only a few books from that have other books in a similar format - just be careful not to read the ones HOD has scheduled. Here are a few series...
"If You Traveled..." (i.e. ... West in a Covered Wagon) This one is used in HOD though, and so is "If You Lived 100 Years Ago," but there are other titles in the series. :D
"You Choose: An Interactive History Adventure"..." series
"Childhood of Famous Americans" series (I know "Thomas Edison," "Phyllis Wheatley," and "Albert Einstein," are used in HOD - maybe more?)
"Liberty's Kids" is also an amazing DVD set for dc to enjoy watching.

HTH! :D
