I would so appreciate your prayers...
Re: I would so appreciate your prayers...
Ok...I have another update.
While I was typing the last one, God was busy rearraging our schedule. Mike got a call that the surgeon was free and could see us RIGHT then, and he will be having surgery on Monday morning at 7:30am.
Thank you all for your continued prayers! We are relying fully on His strength as we move ahead one day at a time. And, He has been so faithful to give us His peace in every situation! We're praying now for the surgeon as he does his work...and that the other Drs we will get to meet with will have wisdom in their reccommendations to us.
"Hear my cry, O God; Attend to my prayer. From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I." Psalm 61:1-2

Re: I would so appreciate your prayers...
I have another update ladies. And, while today has been much more difficult than we expected, we are still trusting the Lord one step at a time.
The surgeon was just getting going with the surgery, when he found a suspicious nodule on the omentum (the fatty layer that hangs like a curtain over your organs). So, he took it out and tested it, and it was cancerous. This shows that the tumor in Mike's colon has grown through the intestinal wall and stuck onto the omentum. So, he stopped the surgery right away as Mike needs a different procedure knowing that. We are praising the Lord (through our tears) here, as we are so thankful that God has directed our steps and led us to a place where they know exactly how to handle somethings unexpected like this. The surgeon will be operating on Friday morning at 10am, and still resecting the colon, removing any other possible visible tumors, removing the omentum, and then ending with a HIPEC treatment. That's a heated chemotherapy bath in the body cavity - to try to get any stray cells that may be lurking there.
We are admittedly a little discouraged at more difficult news, but we will continue to walk closely with the Lord on this journey. Will you please pray with us for Mike's healing? We are also praying that God will be glorified in this - whether that be through a miracle on our behalf, or by giving his strength and encouragement on a long road to healing, or by holding our hands as we let his light shine through this difficult time. We are so encouraged moment by moment for the peace and comfort that He gives! Would you also pray for our kids? Quinn is with us as I'm still nursing him, but the others are 10 hours away at home with Mike' parents. They really sound like they're doing well...but Grandpa and Grandma have a heavy load as they're busy with the other 4, plus all the cows to milk. And, we know that we will still be away 2 weeks+.
Thank you all!
Love,
Kathleen

Kathleen I am praying for your family. I will lift you up to my church. And I will continue to pray that God brings your husband complete healing. Also that your kids do not know the stress of this but instead have a special experience with their grandparents.

be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Thank you so much for the update, Kathleen. We've been praying and wondering how things were going and what was found out. SO thankful that the doctors caught this and have a plan in place to treat it. We'll continue to pray and know that God works all things for His glory!
We'll also keep your sweet children (and the grandparents) in prayer as this can be tough on them, too. Thanks so much for updating and know that you are in the best possible Hands. . . . His Hands!

Re: I would so appreciate your prayers...
Lifting up your family in my daily prayers. If it is okay, I will also add you both to our prayer list at church tonight. With the ages of your children, I can't help thinking your husband must also be quite young. I am sorry about the difficult news, but I agree that God is in charge here and He is directing your paths as well as the surgeon's hands. Peace be with you in the days to come.

Re: I would so appreciate your prayers...
I will be praying for your husband. I can identify with having to leave the children. 23 years ago, our 3rd child was born with spina bifida, among other complicated birth defects. She was taken to a hospital 3 hours away. Our other children were then only a little more than 3 1/2 and 1 1/2 years. Over the next two years they stayed many times with relatives or friends. At age 9, we almost lost our daughter because of a severe infection. It was only by God's grace that she is with us today. The Bible says that the Lord will not give us more than we can bear. Trusting He will give the doctors wisdom and bring complete healing to your husband. God bless!
I John 5:14 "And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask any thing according to His will, He heareth us."
I John 5:14 "And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask any thing according to His will, He heareth us."
I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. III John 4
