Placement Help for my 8 year old

Post by adrocksmommy » Wed Aug 08, 2012 5:39 am

I am having trouble deciding where to place my 8 year old. I am debating between bigger and preparing.

Background..

We used Little HFHS for K and Beyond for 1st grade. For 2nd grade, we switched and did Rod and Staff but there was not much done for science or history beyond Bible history. I was all set just to order preparing but I realized he has no notebooking experience. Any help or insight is much appreciated. Thank you!

We are just beginning Bigger with my 9yo in 3rd grade. Just skimming through it, I can tell there is a significant transition from Beyond. It is very meaty with notebooking in Science and HIstory, making maps, writing vocabulary words, etc. We will be taking more than a year to do it because my dd has visual difficulties which interfere with reading and writing, so I'm taking it a little slower. Since you've worked through Beyond, I would encourage you to just continue with Bigger. If you only had Bible history in your previous curriculum, you don't want to miss the history AND science in Bigger, and the notebooking will be a gentle transition. :D
