Encouragement for a new school year

Post by psreit » Sat Aug 04, 2012 6:54 pm

I recently heard a message that was based on Colossians 1:17, which says, "And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist(stand firm)." It made me think about my homeschooling, and why I am doing what I am doing. In a post Julie had on another thread, she said that they homeschool because they want to keep Christ front and center in their learning. That fits perfectly with this verse. In our homeschooling, we need to keep Christ before us. HOD has had a huge part in helping us do this very thing. If we are homeschooling for OUR pleasure, we are missing a blessing. I know there are times when I need to refocus and purpose to keep Christ before me. Then when I homeschool, or whatever I do, the Lord will produce what is needed to accomplish HIS will in the life my child, as well as my own. We are here to glorify God, so our purpose for homeschooling should be the same. Verse 18 goes on to say, "And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things He might have the preeminence." As a part of the body of Christ, let's purpose this new school year to allow Christ to be 'front and center' in all that we do. Then our homes can receive the blessings that the Lord is waiting to shower on us. God bless your homeschooling year! And may God continue to bless the Austins and all those involved in HOD! :D :D :D

Thank you Pam for that wonderful encouragement! I am really looking forward to getting back to homeschooling and HOD soon. Over the summer I just don't feel like I've had as many opportunities to have the heart felt discussions with my dc. HOD always encourages us to think deeper and seek a deeper relationship with Christ and leads us to many stimulating discussions. I'm looking forward to getting back to it soon! :D

What a timely verse! I am putting that up on the wall. Such a good, good reminder of why we are doing this! :D Every day is not easy, but every day with the Lord is the best it can be, and there are many unexpected joys in homeschooling with Christ at the center. I am so, so thankful for the time I have with my dc through homeschooling, and I also am so grateful for HOD helping me make sure I make every day be for God's glory. Thanks so much for this encouragement!!! :D :D :D
