Which Writing Program With CTC?

We will be starting CTC next month with my 4th and 5th grade daughters. We have never used a writing program and I'm wondering if we should use Write With the Best as listed with CTC, Igniting Your Writing as listed with DITHOR, or both?

I think you should use Write With the Best as scheduled in the CTC guide. It is perfect as a first writing program. It is the first formal writing program HOD schedules. Just one heads up- on the day the dc are to find the different parts of speech you don't have to find them all. You can have them find just a set number or work for say 10 minutes and then move on.

I'm not sure why you'd use both ...but Writing with the Best, if you can get past finding the parts of speech as the pp mentioned. I'd say find 5 or 6 parts of speech and move on. It uses good literature to show good writing.

I'm not familiar much with Igniting Your Writing. Find samples and compare them and see what would work best for you.

I believe the Ignite Your Writing that's listed in DITHOR is only for if your using DITHOR without using a HOD core guide. So I also say go with the one that's scheduled in CTC.
