Getting Ready for Rev to Rev for kids with weak hands

Post by LynnH » Sat Jul 14, 2012 11:52 am

I have been getting everything ready for Rev to Rev this week since my kids are at church camp. Carrie had given me a heads up that there was a lot of cutting involved in the Hands on Composer Pack. Wow, was she right. There is one day they are to cut out something like 84 things and then assemble the booklets. My ds has poor fine motor skills and hand endurance due to his CP. I know that if he did that his hand strength would be spent and he wouldn't be able to do any writing for the rest of the day. On days where he is supposed to cut out more than 3-4 things I am pre-cutting and then he will just have to assemble. The 2 things so far have been the composer booklets and the Orchestra project. I think I will also need to do the Keyboard vocabulary. I know there are others on this board that have kids with fine motor issues or weak hands so I thought I would give them a heads up. I will say though that this composer pack looks incredible. I can't wait until the end of the year to see the finished lapbook with everything he has learned all year in it.

Thanks for the heads-up, Lynn! Our dd doesn't have weak hands, but with all that cutting, I think it would wear out anyone! (or just take a lot of time)
I might just get a head start on some of the printing and cutting, too. Thank you!! :)

Yes you definitely want to print everything in advance. It is a lot of pages and some on colored cardstock or colored paper. I looked at Julie's post about getting ready for Rev to Rev to know how she set up the folders for each project in the pack.
