I haven't posted one in awhile, but I finally updated what we've been up to for the last few weeks with LHFHG and I wanted to start a thread for those of us still chugging along!

Hi,
Just had a long week getting curricula together and waiting on more resources that I ordered to arrive.
Above is a link to my blog, I think I am doing this correctly...
Heart of Dakota is awesome- doing the RevToRev - my 15 y. o. daughter is a ninth grader. I know that the recording aspect and blogging is helpful. I do have access to a planner by the home educating family software that I plan to use for keeping track of progress.
Now for some rest, good night....

Re: Week(s) in Review--Summer Schooling!
Hello ladies, I have given my 14 yo dd Keri a summer break because she has a part time babysitting job and is in a worship band, so her summer is very busy But my dd Tamara (age 12) has returned with me with renewed gusto in the past weeks to working on CTC. At long last we are about halfway through the guide (Unit 17 this week). We found a logical stopping point at Unit 18, Day 1, so we will stop after Monday of next week. We will continue, however, with math and DITHOR (to finish the folk tale genre) until August, when both girls will be taking a 10-day trip with their father to visit their grandmother on the east coast. After they return, I plan to resume the formal school year on August 27. It may be that dd age 14 will start using something other than HOD-after over a year of trying, she just cannot maintain any enthusiasm about having so many books to read I am thankful, however, that she has definitely come to agree that public school is not the answer, and she really is pleased to be homeschooled, and wants to work together with me on a high school plan And although she is not on board for HOD, she still enjoys listening in on Storytime and joining in on a project or two On a side note, now that my oldest girl is a high school graduate and has some free time, she has been joining in on a few projects as well! She helped Tamara make the cookie model of the statue from Nebuchadnezzar's dream.
This week's highlight was making Hamantaschen-I am enjoying the smell as they cool right now But what a challenge to bake when the temperature outside is 108 degrees! Tamara is quite familiar with the story of Queen Esther, and did a great job drawing an outline sketch on the whiteboard to depict what happened in Esther Ch. 5, which was today's Storytime reading. Tamara's oral and written narrations are coming along nicely, and she gets her work done within the expected time, including extensions. I have pulled back in math and made sure she is never working longer than 30 minutes a day on it, whether or not she completes a lesson. This has worked wonders as she has made progress in leaps and bounds and no longer feels overwhelmed or that she can't do it

Re: Week(s) in Review--Summer Schooling!
This blog post link is for June 18-22, our first week in ANY HOD BOOK EVER! I started my oldest (11yo) in Preparing, with Extensions, using DITHOR level 6/7/8. When I go, I go all out Ladies your supprt here has been a GODsend! You all strongly suggested to stagger the start dates for each of my 4 children, which goes against my former-teacher mentality (and I thought I had conquered that!) I am doing that, and you were all RIGHT ON! God is in it, and all is going well!
As of this typing, MG and I are paused at Unit 3, Day 4, until she returns from her grandparent's house for a church event this weekend. But, even with the challenges we are facing with attitudes, habit training, etc,
I LOVE HEART OF DAKOTA!!!! I am having to keep that voice quiet that tells me that I need to do something else, or different or more......I have to learn to tone down my control-freak nature and let go. It's been hard, but I ahve to tell you taht I LOVE HOD!! I feel that she does ushc a great job of applying Charlotte Mason princliples AND showing you HOW to do it! I re-read Karen Andreola's CM book year after year, and HOD has only served to strengthen that book.
gushgushgushgushgushgush!
Oh, you need the post, don't you?
