I've made a mess of placement. Is there hope?

I am boxing up some other curriculum that I purchased at our homeschool convention in order to return it. Sigh. I have figured out that I want to stay with HOD this year and use it correctly.

I will look more closely at the storytime titles for Preparing and consider that option for my son. I want to read something with him though. Is your 10yo reading the history on his own or do you do that together? I think we might combine for Bigger's Storytime as there are many, many titles from the Beyond and Bigger lists that the boys haven't read.
My 10 year old is reading the History on his own, but we do have the follow-ups together. We have the Poetry and Bible Study boxes that we do together, we go over the "S" boxes together, and I read to him when I do Storytime when I read to my whole crew. I've also opted to add in a quick character curriculum that has something I read with him almost daily. In other words, I don't at all feel like he's on his own all day (and neither does he!). :D

And I must mention that my almost 6 year old daughter is really enjoying Little Hearts! :) (We started it a few weeks ago.) It's taking about 1/2 hour to do the whole left side plus the Storytime box each day. (We are doing a devotional and the 3Rs at a different time of day.) I am moving through the boxes at quite a quick pace with her, but I'm very happy to be able to have this special time with her each day. I was originally thinking I'd have to do 1/2 speed because of time constraints, but we've been able to fit it in.

I hope this is helpful! :D
Blessings,
Elisabeth

Total hope - always hope! :D We are all just moms doing our best to figure out what to do. :D I know you are a great mom, having gotten to know you here. Your kids are so loved! You are teaching them about Christ! You are in prayer over your decisions for them! You have such a heart for the Lord! Everything else comes second to these things. :D

I do like PHFHG and half-speed Bigger. I think you would really enjoy that! I posted a response to your history thread question, and I hope that will help with enjoying your time with your oldest. Don't be so hard on yourself - this is not such a mess - and a new year awaits. Deep breath - smell the roses! You are doing just fine - I am so glad you are homeschooling your dc with HOD. :D
