Hi Mary!
I just wanted to chime in here and welcome you to the board! I think we "chatted" on the other board too, and I'm so glad to "see you" here! I have 3 boys as well. They keep us busy, don't they?!? I just got home from church, and I feel like I had an hour-long aerobic workout!
I read through your posts, and wanted to say that I have found the placement chart to be right on target, so I think that's a strong indication you're making good choices. We are doing Bigger Hearts... right now, and I agree with Carrie that it takes us about 3 hours now that we're into the swing of things. We are truly loving it! I'm also doing Little Hearts for His Glory with my 5 year old, and he's thriving with it.
I think you could easily do Little Hearts... with your 5 & 7 year olds. You could just choose the more difficult reading options, math, etc. for your 7 year old if that's what he needs. I also think your oldest would enjoy Bigger... It's a very flexible program as well.
Your plans right now sound great! However, if something changes, or some of your test results indicate that it would be better to match your 7 year old with your 11 year old, and do your 5 year old separate - Here's one other option I'd like to mention. You could take 2 years to do Little Hearts with your 5 year old, by doing the left side of the plans one day, and the right side of the plans the next day, alternating back and forth. We are doing this, and it's a good fit for us. It will take 2 years to finish Little Hearts then. It only takes me about 45 minutes to do this each day, and we have lots of time for my 5 year old to play, listen in on Bigger's read-alouds, color, etc. This would free up some time to do Bigger... with your older two sons.
However, I think the plan you have is awesome, and unless something changes in the levels that best fit your kiddos - you sound all set to start! I'd love to hear what's going on with you and your sons, so be sure to keep everybody "in the know"! Nice to meet you!
