Hi all,
I decided (with the help of many of you) to do LHFHG half speed next school year. My boys are 5.5 and 4. I plan to do the left side 2-3x a week, and the right every day for my Kindergartener. My question:
Would you supplement on the off days? My ds 5.5 is advanced and very ready for more. Not sure what our off days will look like...I'd like to keep a routine going.
My thoughts are to add in some other science, art, lots of read alouds and fun workbox type activites (of which I have a plethora). Does that sound sufficient?
Any other ideas?
If doing 1\2 speed, do you supplement?

IDK about that young, since I didn't use HOD in K. For 3rd grade we'll be using Bigger M-Th, Fridays will be used for games, field trips, and a very light state study. We'll do math practice and his reading to me everyday.
Taking time to play board games (the educational ones, not just Sorry
) tends to get pushed on our back burner. Field trips always seem rushed because I still want school done. I figure by taking Fridays off from HOD it'll extend Bigger a little (which I want to do) and it'll give us a chance to do some things we're missing. The only problem might be ds wanting to do HOD on Friday, because he really does love it that much.

We will be doing Bigger three days a week this fall. On the off days, I plan to do math, reading, and handwriting. Otherwise, the two off days will be used to finish anything from the three days that may not be completed, practicing memory verse, field trips, co-op, and Keepers at Home (life skills that I would like to cover with a 9yo girl)
If you are doing the right side everyday, just include some fun educational things, like nature walks, games, extra art, etc. Let him choose activities he likes. Maybe a more structured fitness time could be added on those days. Just some ideas. Since it is Kindergarten, let him have fun.
