Our first day with HOD!

Post by Maadrose » Mon May 21, 2012 8:02 pm

We have been finished with our curriculum from this year for a few weeks now. My kids were soooo super duper excited about their HOD that we are doing a "trial" week this week! Today went off without a hitch. I ran 3 guides and we were finished by 1:00! Can you tell I am impressed?

Better than that my 12yo dd told a friend when he asked how school is going, "I LOVE IT!". This coming from a kid who wasn't thoroughly impressed with anything educational AT ALL! Lol! She was very proud and excited to work through all of the independent and semi-independent boxes of rtr by herself and I am very proud of her! We did not do the writing assignments because I am techie hem as a class in the fall so we will be following my schedule for that!

10&9 yo dd worked quickly through bigger. We read some extensions out loud. It was fun. They liked the dictation and loved te geography! Their narration for science was AWESOME! They just got out of bed to make sure we are still doing our "new" school tomorrow! LOVE IT!!! we did not do DITHR b/c I don't want them to get half way through a book and then break for the summer, so I just had them read a bit of a book for 20 mins. Come fall we will add in IEW writing and DITHR

7yo ds begged me to read more of the pioneers and patriots book. He had so much fun with the geography! I think I may new to add some science to beyond because I totally know there isn't
Enough science in there for him! Lol! We are still working through some phonics stuff so he will start the emerging readers and IEW writin in the fall.

I hope the rest of our schooling wih HOD is this awesome! Thank you Carrie for writing and planning! That is a huge task! I prayed for you today as led by the Holy Spirit that god would allow you the strength, ability, and time to continue putting out top quality curriculum for us! I thanked Him for allowing me to find and afford this awesomeness! I pray we can continue schooling this way!
