Preparing extensions questions
Preparing extensions questions
The extensions for the older student would be scheduled in the index right?
Is there suggested activities to go w/ the extensions like the younger independent books or is it just a reading schedule?
Could a 5th grader just do the younger independent books?
Thanks!

Re: Preparing extensions questions
Yes, the schedule for the extension book is written in the appendix of the Preparing Guide. The activities are also listed there.

Re: Preparing extensions questions
Yes a 5th grader could just do the independent books. They don't need to do the extensions. My ds did Preparing as a 5th grader and he didn't use the extensions. It was plenty.

Re: Preparing extensions questions
Thanks ladies! I'm leaning toward not doing the extensions.
Re: Preparing extensions questions
My son will be doing Preparing for 5th grade soon, and we will not officially be doing the extensions. He'll be reading the History, Storytime, Science, and Independent History. That seems like plenty to me! My son loves to read, so I'll probably give him some of the extensions for fun reading, but I won't officially assign them or require any assignments.
Hope that helps!

Re: Preparing extensions questions
My 9yo just started Preparing for the tail end of 4th grade and will do most of it as a 5th grader w/o extensions. If your child doesn't need extensions unless they are ready for a bit more of a challenge.
