
I know the CM philosophy is that once a child is 9, if they can read their own history, they should. So going off of that. Which do you think would be a better transition into reading their own history (in Preparing unit 10 right now)
A - reading the history reading one day per unit and slowly expanding
B - reading a portion of the history reading each day and slowly expanding
I'm leaning toward the first option because it seems like it would be easier to transition over a certain amount of time. Plus it seems like Jayden will be more receptive to option A.
I was thinking that if I did option A then I could split up the remaining units and basically only have her reading the history half the time by the end of Preparing. So since we are in unit 10 it would be roughly 12 weeks of her reading one day per unit and then another 12 weeks of her reading 2 days per unit.
This is coming about because I feel like at this point she retains more when she is reading and narrating to me than when I read and she's narrating.
