In the state of Georgia, we are supposed to keep a yearly progress report on each child. It is a hoop because nobody ever sees it, and no official is even legally allowed to ASK to see it. It is the same with the standardized testing. Nobody is allowed to ask to see it, but it is required after 3rd grade.
What I have done is to keep ALL of their work for each year. Each child has a large 3 ring binder for each year, and I have dividers in there for each subject. So I hold onto everything they do "just in case". It allows me to look back over their progress. Also, the kids like to look back through it to see how they have grown as learners.
I was wondering if anyone else keeps their children's work and how you choose to organize it.

Re: Keeping Work
I don't hold on to everything for ds because it would be so much. I do keep his history notebooks. I am going to use one big 3 inch binder to put CTC and RTR notebooking pages and maps in. I also keep a few lap reports, math tests and science notebooking pages. For my high school age dd I keep more just because colleges may ask to see work. I know of one college that wants to see a graded essay, lab report, and math test. I will keep a few of each of those even though her college of choice usually doesn't ask for those.

Re: Keeping Work
Well, I have almost all of their stuff but it is just thrown in boxes in the basement. We are not required to keep anything here in MI. I will start throwing stuff out this summer as I clean out the basement though. I thought I might just keep a sample from each year for me.
