Little Hearts and choosing a science text

Post by raindrops » Wed Apr 25, 2012 8:29 am

Hello! I am excited to join all of you. I have 2 children. A 2 year old that will be starting Little Hands and a 5 year old boy that I will be starting Little Hearts with.

I think I have narrowed down all my choices except for choosing a science text for him. There are 3 options in the basic package.

The 3rd option is offered in Beyond and the 1st is already "worked into" the teachers guide, correct? So I am leaning towards the 1st book (the world God made).

...but...

I don't want to miss "our Father's world" if it's really awesome.

Has anyone used or looked at both? How do they compare? The topics in Father's world sound right up Nathan's alley. LoL. But this being our first time with a real curriculum maybe I should "keep it simple" and just go with the book that is already planned into the guide.

Or are they both?

I would personally go with "The World God Made". It lines up with the activities in the book. I chose the 1st grade text for my oldest and it didn't always line up. I chose "The World God Made" with my 2nd child and enjoyed that better.

I liked "The World God Made" too. I actually bought them both, tried them both, and preferred "The World God Made". They are both full of vivid pictures and narrative text, but "The World God Made" matched everything so well in the daily plans and was every bit as deep as the first grade "Our Father's World". Both of our sons transitioned into "God's Wonderful Works" in Beyond so well after using "The World God Made", so no gaps there. HTH! :D

Yes, that does help. Thank you both.

I couldn't find much on the internet about them- I like to read reviews.

I agree... I got both, and we prefer the K option. I don't even use the 1st option any more... they just use that one to look at for fun, even if they are doing 1st grade everything else.
