Read-alouds for Beyound
I will be doing Beyond with my 6 yr old dd and my 8 yr old ds. I am trying to decide on the readers. I don't know whether to go with the classic set, or pick and choose among the 3 sets. Any suggestions? All the books sound really good. I am so terrible at decisions!

Re: Read-alouds for Beyound
I chose the classic set with my guide and then ordered a few books from each of the other sets off Paperback Swap. We squeeze in the extras for bedtime reading. So far, the alternate suggested books from the list in the back of the guide are my dd's favorites.

I chose from each set. I'm sure any of them would be good, but here are the ones we have enjoyed.
The Railway Children
Sarah Whitcher's Story
Trumpet of the Swan
Mr. Popper's Penguins - We will finish that this week. DD loves this story. I even saw that our library has the movie, which we plan to watch when the book is finished.
Follow My Leader - We will begin this next week. Sounds like a good story.
We have enjoyed others, but these have been some of our favorites.

Re: Read-alouds for Beyound
I haven't read one of Carrie's choices yet that I didn't like!
I have almost all of Beyond's choices now, so I let my daughter choose as we went. Here were some of our favorites...
A Lion to Guard Us
Key to the Treasure
The Cricket in Times Square
All of a Kind Family
In Grandma's Attic
I would sure guess that you'd be pleased with any set you choose. If you have the money, you could get all THREE! I know that I plan to let my kids enjoy the ones we don't choose as a read-aloud on their own.
Happy Reading!

Re: Read-alouds for Beyound
THANKS!!! I am a sucker when it comes to books! I wish I could order all 3 sets.....by the end of the year, I may do just that. I am going to use Creation to Christ with my oldest, so I am trying to get only what I really need to start with. Thanks for all of your help!
