Re: Cursive
I think we all end up with a "hybrid" eventually. I know my "handwriting" is pretty and legible, but it is not "technical".

Re: Cursive
We will be starting cursive next year. I think its good to at least know how to read and write it even if he decides not to use it when he's older.

Re: Cursive
Hi,
I waited till my DS was 8 before introducing Cheerful Cursive. It is now really and truly his favourite subject. Helpful to be able to read it even if you don't end up using it when you write. My own handwriting is a mix of print and cursive.

Re: Cursive
I taught my ds cursive because actually cursive is much easier for him to write due to his tremors from his CP. If he doesn't have to pick his pencil up from the paper it works out much better for him. Also I want him to be able to read primary source documents. I have met some children who didn't learn cursive and have no clue how to read it. One thing I will say is that I have read some interesting things about how actually we may not all end up typing everything in the future. With the development of the tablet computer there is a new emphasis on handwriting. Note taking apps for the Ipad are some of the best selling apps. They are doing more and more with the technology of changing handwriting to typed text.
