Then with dd5 (in LHTH) we read about Joshua praying and the sun standing still. My boy got to thinking...."that meant that God made the earth stop it's spinning - or else made the sun actually move.....to make it look like it's standing still!". So they are thinking through things, retaining info, and having fun doing it. Thank you, Carrie and Julie for all you do to make this curriculum possible. Love it!

Enjoying school...
Just wanted to say that school has not only been great for my boy in Bigger, but also for my 5 yr. old dd and me! I ended up going to Canada for my last two years of high school, so missed a lot of American history and Bigger makes it so interesting and alive and I'm learning new things too.
For science this AM we read a bit out of the "Pioneer Sampler" and my girl was into it as much as my son. We were gathered around the kitchen sink later and my ds was amazed that a napkin stuffed in the bottom of a cup and submerged underwater, actually came up dry. His sister had to try it too!

Re: Enjoying school...
Starla - I didn't move to Canada for my last years of high school, but I really may as well have, as I didn't enjoy nor do I even remember my studies of American history. I just remember a lot of memorization of dates and events. I made no connection whatsoever to the history personally. I too have been so thankful as we did Beyond and Bigger that the stories we read together were heart touching and inspiring - by the time we finished, I really felt like we KNEW those people and why they made their mark in history.
Our kiddos all had to gather around for the glass with the dry paper towel pushed down in the water too - great memories are made each day with HOD, aren't they? I really appreciate your taking the time to share your enjoyment of HOD here. It is an encouragement, and I enjoy reading about homeschool moms looking for and living in the "light" of homeschooling! You have inspired others with your words here today.
In Christ,
Julie
